Reece Young scored the decisive goal in the game between first and second in the table as Thornton Cleveleys defeated Fulwood Amateurs 1-0.
The result sends Thornton 12 points clear of their opponents, though Fulwood have four games in hand on the current leaders.
They'll need to win all four - and handsomely - with John Beavers' men 14 goals to the good over Tony Hesketh's challengers.
Euxton Villa, once the front runners in this season's title race, continued their slight dip in form with a 2-0 defeat to Hurst Green, James Wolfenden and Reece Rhodes scoring for the visitors.

There were two 0-0s in the league this weekend, with Tempest United drawing with Coppull United and Turton and Poulton sharing the spoils in a bottom of the league battle.
Division 1: Stoker-ing the Hawcoat Park fire
Ben Stoker’s hat-trick helped Hawcoat Park to an astounding 8-1 win over Stoneclough. Jordan Chubb both commenced and concluded the scoring in that game, with Frankie Ellis and Jack Milburn scoring in the interim.
Hesketh Bank also won by a margin of seven. 7-0 was the score against Eagley, with George Bond scoring a hat-trick in this one.
Kevin Edgar, Richard Bailey, Jordan Smethurst and Harrison Laybury all added insult to injury with their goals.

Oliver Oxley and Adam Whittaker both came close to matching the heroics of Ben Stoker, George Bond and Oliver Evans, but the pair could only manage braces in Lostock St Gerards' 4-1 win over Millom. Elliott McMeekin was the scorer for the home side.
Ex Lancaster-City man Tom Kilifin scored twice also in Milnthorpe Corinthians’ 3-2 squeaker against Kendal County.
Scott Singleton opened the scoring for the visitors early on, only for Matthew Casson to equalise. Kilifin then put Milnthorpe ahead but Cameron Khan pegged the game back again.
Kilifin’s second was scored with only five minutes left to play to tie up the points.
Tom Craven and Jordan Freeman were two of the scorers in Croston Sports’ 3-3 draw with Askam United and Matthew Lawler and Sam Pinnegor got on the scoresheet for Ulverston Rangers in their 3-2 loss to Haslingden St Marys.

Tom Banks, Harris Bailey and Matthew Shorrock’s goals were enough to see Chipping triumph over Cartmel & District 3-1.
Aiden Pearson had opened the scoring for Cartmel, but the 13th-placed side couldn’t hold on to win.
Thomas Knight and Damien Murphy scored five minutes on either side of half-time to hand Carnforth Rangers a 2-1 win over Walney Island.
Kieran Solloway had ensured a quick response to Carnforth’s opener but they could not conjure a response to the second.
Division 1 Reserve: Pope delivers blessings for CMB Reserves
Josh Pope’s double helped CMB Reserves to victory against Poulton Reserves in one of only three games in the division this weekend.
Lewis Cullen scored the opener for the home side with Pope scoring either side of the break.
Lostock St Gerards Reserves did well initially to fight back from 1-0 down against Horwich St Marys Victoria Reserves - Sean Allerton’s double handing the advantage to the home side after Adam McKenzie’s deadlock-breaking goal after half an hour - but the home side couldn’t hold on.

Martin Trickett’s double added to a brace from Dylan Harris, and one goal from Tejay Bacon, to help Rossendale Reserves to a 5-1 victory.
Fulwood Amateurs A were the victims on the day and Oliver Jones’ goal will do little to alleviate the disappointing scoreline.
Carnforth Rangers Reserves blanked in their 3-0 defeat away to Coppull United Reserves. Daniel Fishwick’s two goals and a Scott Hendy finish helped Coppull to victory.
Milnthorpe Corinthians and Haslingden St Marys Reserves played out a 0-0 draw in their game.

Daniel Fryer was the difference in the match between Galgate Reserves and Wyre Villa Reserves. Wyre won 1-0 thanks to Fryer’s finish.
Ashley Ball can boast a similar influence on the game between Euxton Villa Reserves and Burscough Richmond Reserves.
Ball’s double was complemented by an own goal that caused Jamie Eden’s goal for the home side to be rendered irrelevant as Euxton progressed to the next round.
