All change as clubs announce new managers

The annual managerial merry-go-round is in full swing with a number of West Lancashire League clubs making appointments ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Phil Hart has been promoted from Coppull United's reserves team to take charge of the first team.

This follows the resignation of previous managers Mark Hine and Stephen Lynch.

The club said: "Following our first team management stepping down, the club has moved swiftly to appoint, and promote, Philip Hart from reserve team manager, as the club's new first team manager.

"Phil has done an amazing job with our reserves winning the league and promotion in 2022/23 and the West Lancs Supplementary Cup back in 2021.

"Phil and his management team have the full backing of the club and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve.

"As such, we are welcoming applications for a new Reserve Team Manager. For more information please contact Phil Hart on philiphart9@gmail.com or 07845 014318."

The outgoing managers said: "We would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation for all the players that represented the club over our tenure and to the club itself for presenting us with the opportunity to manage such a great club.

"A massive thank you must go to all the volunteers, coaches, bar staff and people associated with the club, that have helped us out over the years."

At Wyre Villa, Richard Cookney is the new man in the dugout replacing John Beavers.

Cookney has previously been involved in Poulton and Garstang.

He said: "I’ve been with Poulton under 18s and reserves then the first team for a successful three years before going onto Garstang. Last season I was involved in the setting up of Norcross FC as chairman,” said Cookney.

“I’ve had the itch to get back into management and lead from the dugout. That’s why I’ve taken this opportunity at Wyre Villa. I’d like to think I can attract new players to add to the squad we already have, including some experience.”

Andy Mason is now in charge of Turton's first team in Division One, also stepping up from the reserves.

He will be aided by Matt Kirkpatrick and Colin Exley.

Their reserves will be led by player/manager Ryan Hulme, assisted by James Buckley and Kerry Mason.

At Garstang Res, Marc Armstrong and Dave Graham will lead the Division 2 side while down the A6, Phil Blackwell has moved into the hotseat at Fulwood Amateurs with Tony Hesketh stepping aside.

Cleator Moor Celtic have 'parted ways' with manager Stuart Shaw while James Pattinson has taken the reins at Kendal United.
