Astley and Holker setting pace at summit

It was a good day for teams at the top of Division One while nine of our sides progressed in the LFA Amateur Shield, writes ROSS CHAPMAN with pictures from Burscough Richmond v Lostock St Gerards by SNAPPERNAT and Millom v Turton by DARREN HEAVYSIDE.

In the Premier Division, leaders Fulwood Amateurs beat Milnthorpe Corinthians 5-0 thanks to four goals from league top scorer Spencer Lucas and a Jonty McDonald strike.

Cleator Moor Celtic were 2-0 winners away to Poulton with Ellis Trotter getting both goals, their first away win of the season.

Blackpool Wren Rovers came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 against Whitehaven at home.

The visitors burst out of the traps with three goals inside the opening 25 minutes, scored by Travis Fyfe, Robbie Swinburn and David Hill.

The second half was all Blackpool Wren Rovers, though, as Ben Rollins and Ric Seear - another prolific player this season - shortened the deficit before Tarren Moxon got the equaliser to complete an impressive comeback.

Division One’s second placed team Holker Old Boys Reserves got a 4-1 win against Crooklands Casuals.

Farryl Foster put Holker OB a goal up within seconds before Joe McGladdery added a second.

Millom, currently third, beat Turton 4-2, coming from behind twice to get the three points.

Ben McCabe put Turton ahead but Callum High fired back mere moments later.

Cormac O’Mahoney restored Turton’s lead but Jordan Brumby scored two goals in four minutes to send Millom into the break 3-2 ahead.

Callum High secured a brace in the second half to seal the win.

Top of the tree Astley & Buckshaw got a 1-0 away win at Lytham Town, Lucas Gornall getting the only goal on 20 minutes.

Top of Division Two Pause United had a strong away showing, winning 6-2 at Bamber Bridge Reserves.

Ben Roberts scored a hat trick, Zac Clark got two and player-manager Aaron Helliwell also netted late on to round off the goal action.

‘Brig’ Reserves’ goals came courtesy of Jordan Murdoch and Lewis Pilgrim.

Hawcoat Park put six past Caton United without reply, with three of the goals coming from Charlie Thompson.

Ryan Magtoto, Kieran Culley and Diesel Wilkes also scored in the second half to make it a 6-0 win.

Barnoldswick Town Reserves recovered from a Walney Islsnd comeback to win 4-3 and secure a first away win of the season.

Dade Thornton and two goals from Ivan Otomo put Barlick Reserves 3-0 up at the break.

However, the game was far from over - Zach Walker scored a hat trick inside 20 second half minutes to level the scoring and stun the visitors.

The game would take another twist though - Otomo secured a hat trick himself in the 90th minute as the away side regained the lead that had been so extraordinarily taken away from them.

Garstang Reserves enjoyed a 4-1 win over Charnock Richard Reserves with goals from Joe Painter, Rory Walmsley, Sam Burton and Jack Paynter, while Joe Gittens scored Charnock’s solo reply.

Thornton Cleveleys Reserves were victorious on the road, beating Galgate 4-2.

Godfred Boamah got one late on for Galgate but the game was already wrapped up.

In Reserve Division One, Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves came away with the three points in a top of the table clash with Lostock St Gerards Reserves, who they beat 4-1.

Fulwood Amateurs Reserves stormed to a 5-2 win over Rossendale Reserves.

After the first goal, scored by Josh Wood, Thornton Cleveleys were always in the lead.

Jquan Richards was the star for them as he put three past the opposition, but Fulwood Amateurs A did have a hat trick scorer of their own in Liam Taylor.

Reuben Williams and James Oldman were the hosts’ other scorers and Ali Mosheni netted for the visitors.

Lytham Town Reserves came from 2-0 down to claim a 5-2 away win at Croston Sports Reserves.

A Charlie Nelson double put Lytham Town in a comfortable position early in the second half - or so they thought.

Dan Chesworth got one back for Lytham just after the hour before Seb Porter made it level.

Olly Haywood then did something extraordinary, scoring three goals in as many minutes to turn the game around completely.

It was Corinthians who took the lead, Tom Jackson getting the goal.
