Basement boys are off and running!

Barnoldswick Town Res, Garstang Res and Southport Hesketh got their first points of the season as the league completed a frenetic August on a sundrenched Saturday writes ROSS CHAPMAN with pictures of Dalton United v Euxton Villa Res by LEE HOLMES.

In the Premier Division, the two top scorers faced each other and both netted as Fulwood Amateurs beat Blackpool Wren Rovers 5-2 and moved up to second.

Spencer Lucas got the goal action underway but a Ric Seear double made it 2-1 to Blackpool Wren Rovers just after 20 minutes.

The game was far from over though, as Lucas added his second and third either side of half time to complete his hat trick.

Yasin Rezaei and Will Sim’s goals late on in the game made sure of a Fulwood Amateurs win.

Marcus Kirton put Wyre Villa ahead 12 minutes in but after that, Eagley made their mark on the game.

They were 4-1 up at the break thanks to two goals each from Elikan Oswald and Kieran Lomas.

Dylan Jackson-Cooney made it five in the second half to cap off a fine performance by Eagley.

Milnthorpe Corinthians beat Haslingden St Marys 3-2 away from home with all five goals coming in the second half.

Haslingden St Marys took the lead through Alfie Edmondson but they only had it for one minute as Nathan Hankinson fired Milnthorpe Corinthians level less than a minute later.

Connor Dale and a second from Hankinson then gave the visitors a two-goal cushion before Edmomdson got his brace and pulled one back for the hosts.

CMB got a 2-0 win against Whitehaven thanks to Dylan Winstanley and Daniel Locke goals.

Rossendale beat Lostock St Gerards 2-1 with Cole Exley netting a double before Mason McKay halved the deficit.

Cleator Moor Celtic came from a goal down to beat Poulton 2-1 in a tense final 15 minutes.

Jack Hayton put Poulton ahead on 76 minutes before Owen Woodburn equalised five minutes later and the game was turned around in the closing moments of the 90, Leon Dymtroski finding the winner for Cleator Moor Celtic.

Just the one goal separated Hurst Green and Coppull United, Scott Craven scoring early to give the former a 1-0 win.

Burscough Richmond and league leaders Tempest United drew 1-1 with Jordan Lorde and Aaron Thorpe both scoring penalties.

In Division One, a ruthless second half display from Holker Old Boys Reserves gave them a 9-1 win away at Slyne with Hest.

Tyler Spence opened the scoring early on before Slyne drew level through Bevan Carr to send the sides in all square at the break.

However, the visitors took full control of the second 45 - thanks to braces from Jordan McGarry and Noah Williams, Tyler Spence completing his hat trick, a Charlie McGladdery strike and an own goal, it was a comfortable afternoon in the end for Holker Old Boys Reserves.

Top of the table Astley & Buckshaw came from 2-1 down to beat Millom 3-2 on home soil.

Ben MacDonald gave Millom a very early lead from the penalty spot but Callum Williams equalised 15 minutes in.

The away side retook the lead just before the break through Reece Orton, however the hosts turned it around in the second half, Dan Brown equalising and Callum Williams getting his second and Astley & Buckshaw’s third.

Crooklands Casuals left it late to secure three points Hesketh Bank in a 3-2 win.

Lee Irving gave the visitors the lead but a Zak Deeves double just after half time gave the division’s second placed side the lead.

Crooklands Casuals didn’t give up though, Nathan Shaw got them level before Luke Armstrong’s 97th minute winner.

Askam United were 3-1 winners over Freckleton, with Aiden Pearson scoring in the first half and Joe Tindale getting two in the second, before Jack Williams got Freckleton’s late goal.

Elsewhere, Turton got a 3-1 victory over Kendal County thanks to a Danil Prudenov double and a Jack Burke strike.

Cameron Khan got a consolation for Kendal County late on but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.

Croston Sports got three points on the road at Ulverston Rangers with a 2-1 win.

Taylor Brickell and Nick Buckley scored in quick succession after the second half began, Lewis Jones got Ulverston’s sole goal on 74 minutes.

Lytham Town also won away from home, beating Carnforth Rangers 2-0 thanks to a Kian Kelly double.

Chipping and Southport Hesketh played out a 2-2 draw, the visitors' first points of the season.

Chipping took an early two goal lead through Harris Bailey but Stuart Mawdesley and Joe Tierney scored in the second half for Hesketh.

In Division Two, Bamber Bridge Reserves beat Thornton Cleveleys Reserves 4-3 on the road in a rollercoaster ride of a game.

David McPherson gave the hosts an early lead but were pegged back by Carson Greaves’ goal.

Lewis Pilgrim gave the visitors the lead heading into half time but the home side weren’t done.

Joe Hulme levelled it up again before an own goal made it 2-3.

Harry Fryer’s equaliser once again gave the hosts hope of getting a result but William Hassler-Clegg got the decisive goal for ‘Brig’ Reserves.

Garstang Reserves picked up their first win of the season with a 5-2 home victory over Galgate on derby day.

They were 4-1 up at half time through a Lewis Heap penalty, a Dan Pye double and Liam Painter.

Painter added the side’s fifth in the second half.

Godfred Boamah scored both of Galgate’s goals in the game.

Dalton United also won by a 5-2 scoreline against Euxton Villa Reserves.

Robbie Sanderson opened the scoring with the only goal of the first half.

In the second 45, Sanderson went on to score a hat trick, while Scott McDonald bagged a brace.

Euxton Villa’s goals were scored by Thomas Henderson and Mackenzie Brown.

Pause United remain top of the table after a 4-2 win away to Kendal United.

Jamie Harris gave Kendal United the lead in the first half but Pause were ruthless after the break.

Tom Knight levelled the scoring seven minutes into the second 45, before a Ben Roberts double.

Jordan Archer-Nelson pulled one back for the hosts but Zac Clark - who is not just the division’s top scorer, but also the league’s most prolific frontman - sealed a Pause win.

Caton United got a 3-2 victory over Charnock Richard Reserves, with Tommy Varey scoring twice and Lloyd Trippett also on the scoresheet.

Dan Metge and Danny Regan got Charnock’s goals.

Barnoldswick Town Reserves were 3-1 victors over Storeys of Lancaster.

An own goal put ‘Barlick’ Reserves ahead before Josh Cunningham levelled in the second half, but Harley Mather and Dade Thornton scored within two minutes of each other to give them a comfortable lead, and that was how it ended.

Stoneclough and Walney Island played out a 1-1 draw with goals from Akbar Khosab and Jordan Chubb.

Reserve Division One leaders Lostock St Gerards were on the right side of an 11-goal thriller as they beat Turton Reserves 6-5 thanks to a heroic second half display.

Despite their win, Lostock St Gerards were 5-1 down at half time with Declan Samson, Harley Morgan and Samson Obamwonyli all scoring and Ryan Milne getting two.

Dan Fryer scored the eventual winners’ only goal of the opening 45 and was crucial to their incredible comeback, scoring the side’s second, third and fifth goals.

Ashton Cookson got their fourth as well as the all important winner to complete a stunning turnaround in Lostock Hall.

Tempest United Reserves got a first win of the season and did it in style, beating CMB Reserves 9-1.

James Dean, Owen Brown and Josh Firth all scored twice while Nathan Allen, Hadie Russell and Toby Wood also netted.

Josh Pope scored CMB Reserves’ only goal from the penalty spot.

Poulton Reserves were 5-3 winners against Rossendale Reserves.

Haiden Wrathall scored two – both inside the opening six minutes of the game, the other scorers were Will Donegani, Brad Norman and Freddie Kenyon.

Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves beat Fulwood Amateurs Reserves 2-0 with goals from Harvey Walford and Ellis Wilson.

Eagley Reserves and Chipping Reserves drew 3-3, with the hosts scoring late on twice to rescue a point.

Chipping were 3-1 up well into the second half thanks to Max Bryden, Gareth Jones and an own goal, with Kenny Corvelli getting Eagley’s first goal.

Rory Keilty and Rhys Hardie struck late in the day, in the 84th and 87th minutes respectively, to salvage a draw for Eagley Reserves.

Coppull United Reserves and Haslingden St Marys Reserves were made to settle for a point apiece in a 1-1 draw, with the away side finding themselves ahead in the first half through an own goal and Daniel Hallam scoring for Coppull in the second.

In Reserve Division Two, leaders Hesketh Bank Reserves recorded a five-star away win to continue their unbeaten start as they beat Storeys Reserves 5-0.

Macauley Smith scored twice, while Kurtis Tyrer, David Yates and Alex Valente also found the back of the net.

Best of the rest Pause United Reserves beat Hurst Green Reserves 6-1, scoring five of their goals in the second half.

Hurst Green Reserves took the lead through Daniel Mort before Max Davies levelled the scores before the break.

Finn Brockbank put Pause ahead before Ryan Worrall and Jamie Wilkes both bagged braces.

Lytham Town Reserves enjoyed a comprehensive 6-0 win over Caton United Reserves thanks to goals from Charlie Ormerod - who scored twice - Finn Mills, Kai Clarkson, Oliver Heywood and Tom Kelsey.

Fulwood Amateurs A got a 3-1 away win at Croston Sports Reserves.

Croston Sports took the lead through Gian Johal before Jack Dickinson equalised.

Lewis Rosa turned the game on its head before Wesley Onoma added a third in the second half.

Thornton Cleveleys A got a 2-1 win over Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves, who did take the lead through Tom Jackson but saw their advantage overturned by Dan Blackburn and Kole Pratt.
