Cleator Moor Celtic to join West Lancashire League ranks

By Andy Sykes

Cumbrian side Cleator Moor Celtic will play in the West Lancashire League in 2023/24 after the FA released its Step 7 allocations.

Celtic finished bottom of the North West Counties First Division North last season.

The FA Leagues Committee has decided to place Cleator Moor in the West Lancs as it was deemed the most 'geographically appropriate' feeder league.

It means the Premier Division currently has 17 teams in the division subject to final decisions at the league AGM on June 8.

The Premier Division has run with 17 teams before, most recently in 2016/17 when Longridge won the title.

Cleator Moor tweeted: "We are delighted to announce that our First Team will play in The West Lancashire Football League.

"We as a club look forward to the challenge in a league we know will be competitive, We look forward to hosting and visiting all our new clubs."

We welcome all from Cleator Moor Celtic and look forward to seeing them at the AGM on June 8.
