The second round of the Richardson Cup produced a few cupsets, starting with Kendal United of Division Two who stunned Premier Division outfit Haslingden St Marys in a 2-0 win, Brody Moffatt’s double sending them through to the round of 16.

Storeys of Lancaster’s also enjoyed a 'giantkilling' with a 6-2 win at Freckleton.

Storeys went into half time 3-0 up against their higher-ranked opponents, thanks to a Joe Waring double and Josh Cunningham’s goal.

Waring completed his hat trick in the second half and Cunningham added another before the hosts got two back through Graham Lyons and Dan Threlfall.

Reece Pearce rounded off the goal action for the visitors in the first minute of added time to hit Freckleton for six.

Division Two Garstang Reserves came out on the winning side of an eight-goal thriller as they beat Division One Askam United 5-3.

Askam United did take the lead in the earlier stages of the game, scoring twice in quick succession through an own goal and a Jack Stoker strike.

However, Garstang responded ruthlessly with five goals before Askam found the net again.

Joe Painter (2), Luke Williams, Owen Pye and Sam Burton’s goals fired the Stang’s Reserves into the next round but not before Callum Rayner’s consolation.

Hesketh Bank came from behind to beat Stoneclough 4-2 away from home.

Kevin Edgar fired the visitors ahead inside 30 seconds but Stoneclough turned the game around through Junmaane Meggoe and Jordan Wignall.

Lewis Johnson equalised with seven minutes until half time and the scores were locked for some time after that.

On 75 minutes, Ash Daley put Hesketh Bank ahead again before Edgar added his second in injury time and cemented the win .

Hurst Green progressed after a 3-2 win over Poulton which was largely down to a clinical first half display.

Noel Byrne and Jack Burgess gave them an early 2-0 lead 12 minutes in before George Bryne halved the deficit for Poulton.

Jordan Monk’s spot kick five minutes from the break restored Hurst Green’s two-goal cushion and, although it was once again cut by Poulton - this time through Callum Dickinson - the hosts held on.

Fulwood Amateurs eased into the next stage of the cup with a 4-1 win on home turf to Cleator Moor Celtic.

Spencer Lucas bagged a brace inside the opening 10 minutes - first firing through a sea of legs from 18 yards before beating the offside trap to round the visiting keeper before stroking into an empty net.

Hard-working striker Adam Smith could have halved the deficit after he latched on to a loose back pass, but he could only fire over from a tight angle.

He was made to pay as Sammy Higham netted a third on the stroke of half time, his sharp left-foot shirt squirming in at the near post.

James Bell made it four midway through the second, striding on to a through ball to fire under the keeper to put his side out of sight.

James Martin did come up with a reply from Cleator Moor on 83 minutes - and it was the best goal of the game.

Smith released skipper Callum Jackman down the right and his inch-perfect cross was hammered home on the run by sub Martin from 15 yards.

Tempest United had a comfortable afternoon as they saw off Crooklands Casuals 4-0.

Joel Shorthouse got them off the mark on half an hour.

Jordan Pendlebury tucked away a penalty with just over 20 minutes left to play and Sam Parkinson bagged two late on.

Carnforth Rangers progressed on penalties against Lytham Town after a full time score of 2-2 on a tense afternoon at Quarry Park.

Joe Jobling and Rory Kelly scored twice for their respective sides before a 4-2 penalty shootout win for Carnforth.

Burscough Richmond secured a late 1-0 win against Ulverston Rangers with Zach Carberry’s 82nd-minute goal proving to be the only difference between the two sides.

Pierce Beetham’s strike on 55 minutes was all that separated Rossendale and Kendal County in a 1-0 victory for the former.

Coppull United and Lostock St Gerards played out a 0-0 draw before Lostock won 5-4 on penalties.

In the first round of the Challenge Cup, Astley and Buckshaw had a hat trick hero to thank for a 4-2 win at Caton United.

Adnaan Patel got them off the mark on five minutes but Kayne Taylor levelled just moments later for the hosts.

Kurt Robinson’s double sent the visitors into the break 3-1 up but Tomas Sanchez looked like he may spark a Caton comeback with his goal on 56 minutes.

However, Robindon’s third and Astley & Buckshaw’s fourth secured the side’s progression to the second round.

Mill Hill enjoyed a comprehensive 4-0 away win at Galgate.

Brandon Clifton scored twice and Kevin McGow and Anthony Harkness were also on the scoresheet.

Dalton United earned a 2-0 win versus Chipping thanks to goals from Keith Holmes and Gareth Jones.

Chipping Reserves were more successful in their game in the first round of the Stewart Rowe Memorial Cup.

Anthony Slater, Connor Wylie and Greg Timbrel gave them a 3-0 win at Lostock St Gerards Reserves.

In the fourth round of the Lancashire Amateur Cup, Blackpool Wren Rovers breezed past Vickerstown 6-0.

There were just two games in the Premier Division.

With Burscough Richmond in cup action, CMB had the chance to leapfrog them and go into second place - that’s exactly what they did with a 3-1 home win over Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Dan Crook scored from the penalty spot on 35 minutes and Charlie Scholes made it two before the hour mark.

Jonny Voortman’s strike made things interesting but Anthony Hough made sure of CMB getting the three points on 82 minutes.

Eagley secured a 2-1 win at home to Whitehaven, a result which moves them up to ninth.

All three goals came in the first half: Alfie Cowen and Sam Rigby found the net either side of what was a Travis Fyfe equaliser.

Millom continued their outstanding form in Division One with a 6-0 win over Slyne with Hest.

Bottom side Slyne did well to frustrate Millom for the vast majority of the first half but Callum High broke the deadlock with seconds to go until the break.

High added two more to his tally in the second half, Jamie Pattinson bagged a brace and Jed Phillips also netted.

Fifth placed Holker Old Boys Reserves had a similarly impressive day with a 6-0 win over Turton.

Faryl Foster and Noah Williams put them two up at the break before Joe McGladdery and Frankie Ellis’ doubles in the second half.

Croston Sports earned a 2-0 win at home to Southport Hesketh, the goals coming in the second half, courtesy of Ric Tomlinson and an own goal.

There was a nine- goal thriller in Division Two as Euxton Villa Reserves beat Hawcoat Park 5-4.

They took a 3-0 lead through Sam Bottoms, Michael Galliers and Jacob Greenhalgh but Kieran Culley pulled one back on the stroke of half time.

The game looked over when Bottoms and Danku made it 5-1 to Euxton Villa Reserves with 62 minutes on the clock however the remainder of the game was far from predictable.

Reece Cresswell made it 5-2 on 65 minutes and two late goals from Sam Beatie made those last few moments incredibly nervy for the hosts, but they hung on.

Thornton Cleveleys came from a goal down on the road to beat Bamber Bridge Reserves 3-1.

Adam Stammers put Brig ahead on 11 minutes but the advantage lasted all of six minutes when Harry Fryer equalised.

Will Hockings gave the visitors the lead inside the first minute of the second half and Joe Hulme made doubled it after the hour.

Walney Island also enjoyed a win away from home, beating Charnock Richard Reserves 2-1.

Hayden Skyme and Zach Walker gave them a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes, with Dan Metge’s deficit-halver five minutes into the second 45 not enough to spark a comeback.

In Reserve Division One, Turton Reserves secured a big three points against Haslingden St Marys Reserves with a 3-1 win.

James Goodyear cancelled out Ethan Wills-Williams opener in the first half but James Buckley and Wills-Williams’ goals after the break got them the victory as they look to put the pressure on teams around them in the fight for survival.

Leiden McLean’s sole goal was enough for Tempest United Reserves to get past Poulton Reserves in a 1-0 win.

In Reserve Division Two, Caton United Reserves went from being a goal down to winning by three goals as they beat Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves 5-2 and moved themselves off the foot of the table.

Milnthorpe were 2-1 ahead at the break thanks to Tom Jackson and Adam Pashley’s goals, with Ethan Smith converting for Caton.

The game looked increasingly like it would be won by Milnthorpe but in the 70th minute Caton found an equaliser through Tyson Pollard and they were ruthless from then on.

Edward Harrison gave them the lead, Pollard scored a second and Joe Jenkinson rounded off a fantastic closing 20 minutes for the visitors.

Hesketh Bank Reserves and Croston Sports Reserves played out an enthralling 4-4 draw.

Croston Sports scored all their goals before the break and were as comfortable as 3-0 up, and later 4-2 up.

Lewis Townley’s double and strikes from Jamie Lynch and Ben Davies put them in a very strong position at half time, even with the hosts having netted twice through Will Banks and Jack Brennan.

As they began to test the Croston keeper more and more, the home side reduced the difference to just one goal: Jamie Clendon scoring on 70 minutes.

Just as it looked like the away side could scrape the win, Owen Cuerden rescued a point for Hesketh Bank Reserves in the 90th minute, which at many points during the game would’ve seemed close to impossible.

Pause United Reserves came from behind to beat Fulwood Amateurs A 2-1 at home.

Josh Taylor opened the scoring for the away side before goals from Ryan Worrall and Luke Fairclough turned the game around.

Finally, it was a score draw between Storeys Reserves and Thornton Cleveleys A as a good contest ended 2-2.

It was one apiece at the break with Josh Airey and Jquan Richards scoring for their respective sides.

Lewis Hargreaves got a goal for Thornton Cleveleys with nine minutes to go but Josh Heaps salvaged a draw for Storeys Reserves in the closing moments of normal time.
