Davies' demolition double as gap closes on leaders

Euxton Villa narrowed the gap to Thornton Cleveleys with a 7-0 smashing of Southport Hesketh, writes THEO HEWSON-BETTS - with pictures from Thornton Cleveleys v Coppull by JOHN SHIRRAS.

Euxton have a six-point deficit to make up on league leaders Thornton, with a game in hand, and this result will do nothing to dampen their belief that the gap can be closed.

George Davies scored twice in the game, with Tom Murphy, Nathan Parish, Joey Mullen, Callum Speed and Ian Billington also netting.

Tempest United recorded a surprisingly heavy victory over sixth-placed Vickerstown.

A brace from each of Jordan Pendlebury and Aaron Thorpe - with a Joel Shorthouse goal sandwiched in the middle - saw Tempest run out 5-0 winners.

A pair of Jordan Rawcliffe goals was not enough to prevent Hurst Green falling to defeat at the hands of Lytham Town.

Bob Harris, Ross Ainsworth and Danny Scarlett all scored once for the home side as the match ended 3-2.

Burscough Richmond won 3-0 over Whitehaven Amateurs with Paul Bosque-Green, Jordan Lorde and Dylan Bousique-Green all scoring as Burscough continued their march towards the top two.

Lucas Weaver’s double was enough to see Fulwood Amateurs triumph over Poulton, the league’s bottom side.

And Coppull United got a great result against the table-topping Thornton Cleveleys, with Jack Wright’s 67th-minute goal being the decider in a 1-0 win.

Division 1: Postponements galore as Stoneclough race up the league

Stoneclough continued their ascent up the division with a 3-0 win over Crooklands Casuals on Saturday with James Dickie, Callum Walsh and Ben Marshall helping the home side jump up to fifth.

Croston Sports also won 3-0 in their game against Horwich St Mary's Victoria.

Jordan Freeman’s early penalty got things going with Dom Case and Connor Davis rounding of the result in the second half.

The only other game in a weather-affected weekend in Division 1 saw Hesketh Bank and Kendal County draw 1-1, with Nathan Gonzales and Matthew Casson scoring respectively.

Division 2 - Kendal’s Kenny cracking form

Bailey Kenny followed up his goal last week with a brace this time out as his Kendal United side brushed aside Dalton United.
The rest of the goals were scored by Tom Russell and Joe Fleming as Kendal completed a 4-0 win.

Freckleton got a great result with their 3-1 win over title challengers Carnforth Rangers.

The home side themselves are currently sat in ninth, with hardly half the points of their opponents.

Samson Ogandaisi got the underdogs off to a great start before Danny Thornton levelled things up.

Freckleton got all the goals in the second half though, Sully Bishop and Dylan Agnew finishing, to polish a great victory.

Charnock Richard Reserves beat Furness Rovers 3-2.

An own goal had put Charnock in the lead before Jordan Chubb levelled things up. William Hopper and Daniel Wyatt both scored for Charnock though and those conversions put the game out of reach for Furness, despite Jason Corkan’s 83rd-minute effort.

Division 1 Reserve: Wignall v Uppal in thriller draw

Lostock St Gerards Reserves and Burscough Richmond Reserves played out an unbelievable draw, with both Jordan Wignall and Raj Uppal scoring hat tricks for their teams.

Wignall opened the scoring initially, with teammate Andrew Shaw quickly adding one of his own to give Lostock a two goal advantage before David Sharkey’s response just before half-time.

After the break, Uppal quickly levelled the game. Wignall gave Lostock the advantage again, Uppal responded immediately, Wignall again to put his team in the lead and complete his hat-trick.

It took Uppal up until the 90th-minute before he matched Wignall’s achievement and, in doing so, bagged Burscough a point.

Croston Sports Reserves beat Hurst Green Reserves 4-3. John Stead, Louis James and Zac Foley scored for Hurst, but goals from Declan Booth and George Rose, as well as a double from Harry Hardacre, saw Croston return home with three points.

Poulton Reserves also scored four, in their 4-2 win over Tempest United Reserves.

Matthew Seal’s brace and goals from Jack Murphy and Matthew Sillett saw the home side go 4-0 up with 40 minutes still to play.

Tempest did their best to mount a comeback through Nathan Monson and Luke Bennett, but it was too little, too late for the visitors.

Euxton Villa Reserves won 3-2 away to Fulwood Amateurs in another high scoring game.

Nick Buckley scored twice for the winning team with Ryan Thompson also getting on the scoresheet.

The efforts of Jamie Marvill and Kane Froggatt were not quite enough to earn their team a point.

Thornton Cleveleys Reserves beat Horwich St Mary's Victoria Reserves 3-1.

Division 2 Reserve: Seven’s heaven for Rossendale Reserves

Rossendale Reserves put Galgate Reserves to the sword with a resounding 7-1 victory, to keep the home side pinned to the bottom of the division.

Regan O’Brien (2), Dylan Harris, Stephen Claxon, Harry Buckley and Steve Dunlevy - as well as an own goal - were all the scorers for Rossendale, with Aaron Cartwright’s late goal for Galgate hardly registering as a consolation given the stark nature of the scoreline.

Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves and Fulwood Amateurs A played out a 2-2 draw with Dan Nowell and Tom Jackson scoring for Milnthorpe and Oliver Jones and Matthew Billington getting the goals for Fulwood.

Carnforth Rangers Reserves beat Hesketh Bank Reserves 2-1, Richard Bell and Ben Turton helping the home side come from behind after Richard Fox’s opener for Hesketh.

The final game in Division 2 was played between Wyre Villa Reserves and Lytham Town Reserves, with Wyre winning out 1-0 through Leon McLaughlin’s goal.

Where next?
