In the Premier Division, top of the table Tempest United suffered a first league defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 at Cleator Moor Celtic.

Jordan Pendlebury put Tempest ahead just after the half hour mark but Cleator Moor Celtic responded in some style in the second half, with goals from Ellis Trotter and Adam Smith taking the three points out of their opponents’ hands and into their own, something no other side has managed to do to the league leaders this season.

Haslingden St Marys scored the first and last goals of the game but it was Poulton who came away with the three points in a 5-2 home win.

Alfie Edmondson put Haslingden ahead from 12 yards inside three minutes and the visitors held the lead for the vast majority of the first half, however quickfire goals from Billy Joyce and Ralf Threlfall-Newton flipped the game in Poulton’s favour.

Tyler Hallam, Cory Harrison and Threlfall-Newton - with his second of the game - added three more to Poulton’s tally early on in the second half, in fact the third and fifth goal were separated by just four minutes.

James Wright made it 5-2 with another spot kick for the visitors but that crucial four minute period ensured Poulton eased to victory.

Lostock St Gerards produced a five-star display to beat Whitehaven 5-1.

They were 4-0 up with just 48 minutes gone as Ryan Fletcher, Mason McKay, Connor Macauley and Tommy Grinrod getting the goals, McKay and Macauley scoring in the same minute as each other.

Grinrod made it five later on, that was after a consolation goal from Whitehaven’s George Frampton.

Tempest United’s defeat gave the chasing pack the chance to crank up the pressure and both Burscough Richmond and CMB did just that.

Firstly, Burscough Richmond defeated Coppull United 2-0 on the road thanks to second half efforts from Lewis Corke and Alfie Westhead.

CMB earned a 3-0 win over fourth placed Fulwood Amateurs with goals from Carl Grimshaw, Anthony Haugh and Charlie Scholes all coming before the break.

Eagley came from a goal behind late on to beat Blackpool Wren Rovers 2-1.

The division’s joint top scorer Ric Seear put Wrens ahead on 18 minutes but, although they were in front for a large portion of the game, Eagley were well it throughout and got their reward.

Dylan Jackson-Cooley equalised with 12 minutes of regular time remaining before a Kieran Sisson winner three minutes later.

Milnthorpe Corinthians and Hurst Green played out a 0-0 draw in what was only the second goalless match of the 2024/25 West Lancs season so far.

The leaders of Division One enjoyed a comfortable away win as Astley & Buckshaw beat Slyne with Hest 4-0.

It was goalless at the break but Courtney Skerritt broke the deadlock within a minute of the second half getting underway, before Lucas Gormall bagged a brace and Olly Roebuck capped off the goal action in the final minute.

Second placed Millom were on the winning side of a seven-goal thriller in a 4-3 victory away to Hesketh Bank.

Reece Orton scored twice for Millom with their other two goals coming courtesy of Ben Macdonald and Theo Wilson.

Josh Brierley, Aidan Johnson and Richard Burns were on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Ulverston Rangers are up to third after a 3-2 win over Crooklands Casuals.

Archie Butler put Ulverston ahead on 11 minutes before Harvey Irving’s equaliser midway through the first half.

Jack Gardner restored his side’s lead just before the hour mark but it lasted all of four minutes as another Irving, Lee, brought things level once more.

However, it was Rangers who got the winner and they were determined in doing so - it wasn’t until the second minute of time added on that Sean Mooney got that all important goal.

Lytham Town overtook opponents Holker Old Boys Reserves, moving up to fourth in the table following a 3-1 win.

Rory Kelly opened the scoring on seven minutes before Faryl Foster equalised on the stroke of half time.

Kelly added a second and third on the 70th and 89th minutes to complete a hat trick and get his side the win.

Carnforth Rangers left it late to come from a goal down to beat Freckleton 2-1.

Zach Smith put Freckleton ahead on the 32nd minute and that looked like it would prove to be the difference between the two sides, that was until Joe Wilkinson’s 88th minute strike.

Carnforth Rangers didn’t settle for a draw though and, in the seventh minute of added time, Ellis Rucastle scored the decisive winner for his side, which would have been very unexpected 10 minutes prior.

There were three entertaining draws in Division One, starting with Chipping and Croston Sports’ 4-4 draw.

The visitors took what seemed like a strong 3-1 lead into half time thanks to efforts from Charlie Nelson, who got a double, and Ric Tomlinson, with John Ross scoring for Chipping, but the hosts recovered in the second half.

Gary Knight and Hugo Strand scored on the 55th and 65th minutes to draw level, before Croston Sports retook the lead through Tomlinson, making it two for him.

However, Chipping would once again through a spanner in the works and Aaron Quigley equalised on the 88th minute in a dramatic conclusion to an enthralling game.

Southport Hesketh moved off the foot of the table with a 3-3 draw at Kendal County.

They took a 2-1 lead into half time as, despite an early opener from Kendal County’s Luke Selby, they responded through Charlie Gray then took the lead with Muhammed Samateh’s goal.

The hosts regained the lead with 10 minutes to go though, as Will Chambers and Louis Miller scored in quick succession to turn the game around again.

However, the away side were not done and Stuart Mawdsley’s late equaliser meant that both sides settled for a point apiece.

Askam United and Turton drew 2-2 with all four goals coming in the second half.

Turton took the lead on two occasions through Morgan Griffiths and Jack Burke but were cancelled out by Sam Purslow and Callum Rayner.

Division Two’s top side Pause United continued their fine form this season with a 4-2 away win over Garstang Reserves.

Ben Roberts converted from 12 yards to put Pause ahead before Joe Painter’s equaliser sent the sides into the break inseparable.

However, the game opened up more in the second 45 and Roberts restored his side’s advantage and an own goal extended it further.

The league’s top scorer Zac Clark made it four with 10 minutes of normal time left before Matteo Giannone got one back for ‘The Stang’.

Elsewhere, Walney Island hit Charnock Richard Reserves for six in a 6-1 win which they absolutely ran away with in the final 15 minutes

Dan Metge gave Charnock the lead on 25 minutes before Jack Litherland’s equaliser.

It was level pegging until the 75th minute when Walney Island finally were rewarded for all their pressure in quite brutal fashion.

Litherland added another before a Jordan Chubb hat trick and a Zach Walker goal as Walney Island ran riot as the clock ticked down.

Second placed Kendal United may have a lot of work to do if they stand any chance of catching up with Pause United at the top, but they continue to impress and secured another win on Saturday, defeating Euxton Villa Reserves 4-1.

Thomas Henderson gave Euxton Villa an early lead and they held onto it until after the break but the hosts proved too strong in the second half.

Jamie Looker, Daniel Craig, Jakub Kowalik and Matthew Kennedy scored to ultimately make it another comfortable afternoon for Kendal United.

Storeys of Lancaster earned a 3-2 win over Bamber Bridge Reserves, which now lifts them up to third.

Stoneclough recorded an important 2-0 away win at Thornton Cleveleys Reserves, second half goals from Jordan Wignall and Jumaane Meggoe were the difference.

Mill Hill dropped points at home for the first time this season after a 1-1 draw versus Hawcoat Park, Charlie Alston and Matty Roberts getting the respective goals.

In Reserve Division One, Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves, who are cruising at the top with a 10-point cushion, secured a comprehensive, 7-2 victory over Rossendale Reserves.

Alfie Tomlinson, George Hawkins, Ben Seear and Liam Kilbride scored their first half goals before Kie Melvin pulled one back for Rossendale.

Seear added a fifth for his side before Alfie Gardiner’s double, which came just after Niall Holt’s consolation goal.

Coppull United Reserves enjoyed a fruitful away trip to Turton Reserves, from which they came away with a 5-0 win.

Joe Gallaway netted a hat trick with Callum Ellis and Kieron Tickle also on the scoresheet.

Haslingden St Marys Reserves earned a 3-1 win at home to Lostock St Gerards.

Ian Marsden gave Lostock the lead but that was taken from them by the hosts before the break, Keenan Webb and James Goodyear flipping the game on its head.

Charlie Lord got a goal in the dying embers of the game to make sure of the three points for Haslingden St Marys Reserves.

Tempest United Reserves, much like their senior side, are a very strong outfit and are now up to second in the standings following a 2-0 win over Eagley Reserves.

Leiden McLean and Finn Topping scored the goals for Tempest.

In Reserve Division Two, leaders Hesketh Bank Reserves continued their perfect away form as they beat Pause United Reserves 5-1.

A double from Jack Brennan and an Owen Cuerden strike gave them a 3-0 lead at half time, which was extended by Jonathan Croft on 65 minutes.

Pause Reserves pulled one back on 75 minutes through Adam Walmsley before Brennan completed his hat trick.

Carnforth Rangers Reserves edged out Milnthorpe Corinthians 3-2 in a close game.

George Pedley gave Carnforth Rangers the lead just before the break but by the time the referee had blown had half time, Tom Ladds had equalised.

Pedley and Will Mead scored in the second half to make it 3-1 then Tom Jackson pulled one back for Milnthorpe Corinthians, but it was too late in the day.

Fulwood Amateurs A earned a 2-0 win at home to Storeys Reserves with goals from Odion Lyare and Kelvin Holding.

Daniel Mort’s goal on the half hour was the only difference between the two sides as Hurst Green Reserves beat Croston Sports Reserves 1-0.

Caton United Reserves rescued a point late on in a 1-1 draw at home to Lytham Town Reserves.

Adam Worthington struck early in the second half for Lytham before Adam Garnett, the former Caton manager, brought things level with just moments left.

Finally, Thornton Cleveleys A and Stoneclough Reserves also drew 1-1, with goals coming from Adam Skinner and Christian Kirkpatrick.
