Premier Division: Huge twist in title tussle

It was another action-packed weekend of West Lancashire League action, and it would prove to be a one at both ends of the Premier Division table.

We start with second-placed Burscough Richmond, who battled from behind to beat Fulwood Amateurs 3-1.

Fulwood Amateurs took the lead through an Oliver Molloy header, only for Josh Niblock to fire back just three minutes later with a clever finish from a tight angle.

Collin Bosque-Green and sub Zach Carberry then scored in the second-half, the second a bullet header following a good team move, to seal the win for Burscough Richmond.

Meanwhile, Milnthorpe Corinthians picked up a vital three points of their own as they won 1-0 against league leaders CMB, with Taylor Fagan grabbing the only goal of the game.

Those results saw Burscough Richmond pull level on points with CMB, whilst possessing two games in hand over their title rivals.

Elsewhere, Luke Power and Mohammed Patel both bagged braces as Coppull United beat Wyre Villa 5-1.

Coppull United were also aided by an own goal, whilst Wyre Villa’s only goal came through Maleck Tanou.

Tom Powell and Luke McNaughton scored twice for their respective sides as Whitehaven and Blackpool Wren Rovers drew 3-3.

Owen Woodburn was also on target for Whitehaven, whilst Jacob Aspinall netted six minutes from time to earn Blackpool Wren Rovers a point.

Goals from Robbie Mooring, Regan Crossley and Reece Pearce helped Slyne with Hest see off a Jake Mangan-inspired Thornton Cleveleys to claim a 3-2 win.

Mangan scored both of his side’s goals, but could not prevent Slyne with Hest from taking victory.

There was late drama at Lytham Town, where a stoppage-time Sam Stevens goal saw Vickerstown snatch a 2-2 draw.

The hosts twice led the match, first through Lloyd Paton and then Danny Scarlett, but would be denied victory by a Scott McDonald goal and Stevens’ 93rd minute strike.

Poulton kept up pressure on the league’s top two with a 2-1 comeback victory at Tempest United.

Tempest United took the lead through Aaron Thorpe, before Mitchell Cheetham and Billy Dollin turned the game around for the visitors.

And rounding off the weekend’s Premier Division action, Turton beat Hurst Green 3-0 thanks to Sam Rigby’s opener and a brace from Jack Coop.

Division One: Woods’ Wizardry sends Lostock St Gerards top

Lostock St Gerards capitalised on Hesketh Bank being out of action to jump above their title rivals into first with a 2-0 victory over Croston Sports.

Mark Woods scored both of his side’s goals in the win.

Third-placed Rossendale also picked up maximum points to maintain their own push for top spot, with three second-half goals securing a win at Crooklands Casuals.

The hosts went into half-time in front after Nathan Shaw netted just before the break, but a Will Foster leveller and Scott Wylie double would see Rossendale ultimately secure a 3-1 win.

Eagley also came from behind to beat Ulverston Rangers 2-1, with Luke Bradbury and Kevin Myftaraya finding the net after Sam Pinnegor had opened the scoring.

Carnforth Rangers fought back to claim a point against Stoneclough, with Lucas Pennington’s goal earning a 1-1 draw after Stoneclough had taken the lead through Aaqil Campbell.

Kurt Robinson and Connor Ashe also found the net, whilst Kendal United’s goal came via Matthew Kennedy.

And in the last of the weekend’s Division Two games, Walney Island beat Euxton Reserves 2-1.

Joe Pearson and Reece Craig had Walney Island 2-0 up after half an hour, and despite Sean Elliot halving the deficit in the second-half, they would hold on to claim all three points.

Division One Reserve: Trebles galore as division goes goal crazy

It was a remarkable Saturday of scoring in the Division One Reserve, with no fewer than three games having double-digit goal tallies.

Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves were the leading goalscorers, as they scored nine in a 9-3 win at Croston Sports Reserves.

Luke Smith and Archie Addison both scored hat-tricks for the visitors, whilst Ellis Wilson, Tommy Hanslip and Connor Taff all grabbed a goal apiece.

Connor Nutter-Riding also scored three, despite ending up on the losing side.

There were 11 goals at Hurst Green Reserves, who beat Turton Reserves 7-4.

Gary Knight was the latest player to notch a treble, Matthew Bagot scored twice and Aaron Davies and Sam Whittaker also got on the scoresheet.

Turton Reserves’ goals came via Alistair Dickson, Ethan Mason and a Cole Exley double.

And there was still one more hat-trick, courtesy of Fulwood Amateurs Reserves’ Kane Froggatt, as his side beat Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves 8-2.

James Sidebottom also scored twice, with Will Simm, Dom Flanigan and Christian Bolton each getting one.

Both of Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves’ goals were scored by Lewis Davis.

A late James Morley winner at CMB Reserves maintained Lostock St Gerards Reserves’ position at the top, with the leaders also having games in hand to potentially build a cushion.

The game was tied at 2-2 going into the final minutes, with Jax Hazeldine and Josh Pope having scored for the hosts, and Danny Fryer and Andy Harvie for the visitors.

But in the 89th minute, Morley would make it 3-2 to seal the win.
And the division’s final game of the weekend, Poulton Reserves and Tempest United Reserves drew 1-1, with Dominic Gill’s opener swiftly cancelled out by Hadlie Russell.

Division Two Reserve: Braces for Booth and Birkby

Two goals from Jonathan Booth helped Rossendale Reserves eventually record a 4-3 victory over Carnforth Rangers Reserves.

Henry Hindle and Martin Trickett also scored for Rossendale Reserves in which they trailed twice, but despite goals from Carl Davies, Jack Butler and Curtis Graham, Carnforth Rangers Reserves were unable to secure the points.

Danny Birkby also scored twice, including a 90th minute winner, as Hesketh Bank Reserves beat Thornton Cleveleys A 3-2.

Birkby was joined on the scoresheet by David Yeates, whilst Dan Summer and Josh Woods were the scorers for Thornton Cleveleys A.

Division leaders Eagley Reserves won once more, beating Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves 3-1 thanks to goals from Charlie Needham, Jordan Hibbert and Ross Wakefield.
