Happy Days for Cunningham as Green go top

Nick Hepple showed his goalscoring instincts are well and truly intact with his fifth goal in two games as Hurst Green reached the summit of the Premier Division, with pictures of their 4-1 win at Wyre Villa by DERICK THOMAS.

Steve Cunningham's Green cashed in again with their second four-goal haul in four days to defeat John Beavers’ side.

Hepple struck early and then extended Hurst Green’s lead just after the break. The two sides then traded goals through Tom Whiteside and Jack Burgess with Hepple rounding off the win on 89 minutes.

They lead the table on gaol difference from champions Burscough Richmond who prevailed 3-2 at Tempest United. Ade Kirkbride put them ahead at the break only for George Scott to level it.

The returning Jordan Lorde chipped in a second for Richmond and Dillon Bosque-Green thundered home a header to make it 3-1, a Sam Parkinson penalty not enough for the home side.

Milnthorpe are having a fine start to the season under Chris Humphrey with their second win in four days, 3-2 at home to Whitehaven.

Reece Pearce struck the decisive blow 12 minutes from time after Joel Davidson and Whitehaven’s Bobby Carter had both bagged a brace.

Danny Hill was the stoppage time hero for Cleator Moor Celtic in their 2-1 win at Slyne.

Hill had put the Cumbrians ahead but Asa Stone had restored parity before Hill popped up in the 90th minute to seal the points.

Will Pitt was on the scoresheet twice for Fulwood Amateurs in their 2-0 win at Poulton and Luke Harris hit a hat-trick in Blackpool Wren Rovers’ 3-1 win at Coppull United, Harvey Collins on the mark for Coppull.

Lostock St Gerards went goal crazy at home to Turton, roaring back from Matthew Warburton’s opener for Turton with seven unanswered goals through Josh Sarda, Charlie Markland, Theo Ball, Lewis Pilgrim, John Jo Morris and a Danny Ormerod double to win 7-1.

And CMB got their campaign off an running, coming from behind to win at Rossendale. Dylan Winstanley got both in a 2-1 win, Wayne Morrison on target for the home side.

Four teams are tied on goal difference at the top of Division One after perfect starts to the season.

Askam looked on course for defeat at Millom as Jordan Brumby and Harry Cowley put the home side two up at the break.

But Askam came roaring back in the second half with Ben Phizakela grabbing a pair and Callum Rayner completing the turnaround with 10 minutes left.

Haslingden St Mary’s won 2-1 at Southport Hesketh, Reece Moreton and Lewis Hanley putting them two up with David Gates halving the deficit for the home side.

Chipping maintained their momentum from promotion to notch their second win of the season, a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Croston Sports.

Greg Trimbell put them ahead but Croston levelled through Jordan Wignall. Chris Cookson won it for Chipping on 81 minutes.

Ulverston Rangers left it late – very late – to beat Holker Old Boys Reserves by the same scoreline.

Charlie Thompson put Holker ahead with Zach Mooney replying. An own goal in the 96th minute then gave Ulverston the three points.

Hesketh Bank got their first points of the season with a 4-1 win at Carnforth Rangers, Richard Burns grabbing a pair with further goals from Kevin Edgar and Jordan Smethurst. Dan Foden scored for the home side.

Connor Walmsley struck twice for Kendal County either side of Joe Blackshaw for Crooklands Casuals in another 2-1 win, with the same scoreline evident at Eagley where the Bolton side saw off Lytham Town.

Luke Bradbury opened the scoring for Eagley and Kieran Lomax doubled it, with Lloyd Patten setting up a nervy finish.

Garstang Reserves lead the way in Division Two thanks to a 6-2 win at Galgate.

Latecomers to that game would have missed the first two goals, with Liam Painter and James Craig both scoring inside two minutes for their respective sides.

Craig would go on to get a treble as Garstang took control, Luke Williams, Jacob Salisbury and Lewis Heap also netting. Painter doubled his tally for Galgate in the second half.

Freckleton are also faultless so far, winning 2-1 at home to Euxton Villa Reserves. Saul Hamer and Ellis Campbell put them two to the good at the break, Jacob Greenhalgh pulling one back for Euxton in the second half.

Walney Island don’t seem to be suffering from the departure of goal machine striker James Bailey with the second win of the season, 2-1 at home to Pause United with Zach Walker getting both for the peninsula side.

Tobi Mustafa had put Pause ahead before the Walker-inspired turnaround.

Caton United notched their first West Lancashire League points with a 3-0 win over Hawcoat Park, Leon Lyon, Joe Jenkinson and Simon Wearing all netting.

AFC Blackpool Reserves enjoyed a 3-2 win at Astley and Buckshaw through a Mitch Nordwind pair and Denny Cain’s strike.

The home side scored through Jamal John and a late Danny Cooper penalty.

Charnock Richard Reserves edged out Stoneclough in a bonkers game on Wednesday night. Marcus Perry and Ross O’Farrell had put Charnock two goals to the good but Sean Munchenjy, Max McNulty and Austin Almond put Stoneclough 3-2 up.

Charnock were not done though, Alex Kaye and Owen Greene scoring in the last eight minutes to win a remarkable game for the visitors 4-3.

In the final game of a busy midweek schedule, Kendal United beat Dalton 4-1.
