Premier Division: League leaders leave it late
Burscough Richmond remain top of the Premier Division table after Billy Whittle’s 86th minute strike handed them a 1-0 victory at Turton.
That goal prevented Poulton from heading back to the top, with the second-placed side registering a 3-0 win over Tempest United thanks to a Nick Hepple brace either side of a goal from Mitchell Cheetham.
CMB, currently in third, also picked up victory on Saturday, coming from behind to win 2-1 at Whitehaven.
Whitehaven’s Kian Goulding opened the scoring, before Daniel Crook levelled for CMB from the spot. A Dylan Winstanley winner would then seal all three points for the visitors.
Elsewhere in the division, a flurry of second-half goals helped Wyre Villa beat Milnthorpe Corinthians 5-2.
Milnthorpe Corinthians had led twice in the first-half, first through Charlie Mason and then Taylor Fagan, only to see those goals cancelled out by Ryan Charnley and Richie Allen respectively.
And Wyre Villa would then wrestle control of the game after the break, with three goals in eight minutes courtesy of Zak Adeoye, Martin Enow and Jude Watson.
Thornton Cleveleys also secured a comeback victory as they recovered from a goal down to beat Coppull United 3-1.
Sam Smith gave Coppull United a 1-0 lead, before Thornton Cleveleys turned things around through a goal from Alywn Flynn and a Richard Wright penalty.
Tommy Dollin would add a third three minutes from time to secure the win.
First-half goals from Josh Draycott and Liam Cutts saw Slyne with Hest beat Blackpool Wren Rovers 2-0.
And in the final Premier Division game to be completed this weekend, bottom of the table Hurst Green picked up a valuable three points with an impressive 2-1 win over Fulwood Amateurs.
Matt Van Wyk had given Fulwood Amateurs the lead from the penalty spot, but that goal was cancelled out just two minutes later by Daniel Mort.
Hurst Green would secure victory with a penalty of their own, which was converted by Jordan Monk.
Lytham Town had been scheduled to take Vickerstown, but the game had to be postponed due to a lack of available officials.
Division One: Little provides large impact
Horwich St Mary’s Victoria recorded a big win this weekend as they beat Askam United 6-1, with four of their six goals coming courtesy of Sam Little.
Leiden McLean and Alex Mackenzie also found the net, whilst Callum Rayner netted a consolation for Askam United late on.
Lostock St Gerards also hit six, as they maintained their place at the top of the table with a 6-0 win over Stoneclough.
Remarkably, Lostock St Gerards’ goals came through six different scorers, with Andrew Leggett, Josh Sarda, Matthew Bullock, Ben Hudson, Ryan Salmon and Oliver Evans all getting on the scoresheet.
The fight for top spot in Division One has increasingly evolved into a three-horse race, and the league’s leading trio all tasted victory on Saturday.
Third-placed Hesketh Bank, like table-toppers Lostock St Gerards, enjoyed a comfortable win as they beat Hawcoat Park 4-0.
First-half goals for Danny Birkby, Jordan Smethurst and Harris Labrey all but secured the points for Hesketh Bank, with Tom Smyth-Ferguson adding a fourth for good measure after 73 minutes.
In contrast to their promotion rivals, Rossendale, currently second in the table, were pushed hard on their way to an eventual 3-2 win at Kendal County.
Rossendale took the lead through Scott Wylie, but would find themselves 2-1 down heading into the final 20 minutes of normal time after goals from Kendal United’s Jacob Carway and Zach Corbett.
However, a quickfire double from Simon Nagle would ensure Rossendale ultimately left with what could be a crucial three points.
Away from the battle at the top, and Daniel Singleton netted a hat-trick for Southport Hesketh as they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at Crooklands Casuals.
Singleton’s goals, along with David Brooks’ opener, had the visitors in the driver’s seat for much of the game, but a brace from Nathan Shaw, coupled with strikes from Morgan Trelore and Ryan Rodgers, would see Crooklands Casuals secure a share of the spoils.
A brace from Leon Barker-Williams helped Haslingden St Marys to a 3-1 victory at Carnforth Rangers.
Jordan Lewis also found the net for the visitors, whilst Damian Murphy got Carnforth Rangers’ only goal of the game.
Finally in Division One, Eagley won 2-1 away at Millom, with all three goals coming in one eight-minute period in the first-half.
Harry Wood and Luke Bradbury both scored for Eagley, either side of a goal from Millom’s Jamie Pattinson.
Division Two: Hat-trick for Close caps goal glut at Kendal United
Kendal United and Astley and Buckshaw played out a quite remarkable contest in Division Two, in which there were 11 goals, including two hat-tricks.
Kendal United’s Ryan Close and Astley and Buckshaw’s Kurt Robinson both hit trebles, whilst Daniel Craig, Marco Thompson, Matthew Kennedy and Keenan Quill were all on target for the hosts.
Dom Case would also grab a goal for Astley and Buckshaw, with the game ending at a final score of Kendal United 7-4 Astley and Buckshaw.
Incredibly, Kendal United were not alone in scoring seven this weekend, as Holker Old Boys Reserves beat Chipping 7-1 to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Faryl Foster netted a hat-trick, whilst Sam Lightfoot, Frankie Ellis, Charlie McGladdery and Tom Stevenson also scored for the league leaders.
Harris Bailey was the scorer of Chipping’s only goal.
Holker Old Boys Reserves are now four points clear at the top after Freckleton beat second-placed Walney Island 5-0 courtesy of goals from Joe Brieley, Owen Potts, Jamal Johns and a Joe Bentley brace.
Meanwhile, Galgate got themselves off the mark with a 2-1 comeback victory at Charnock Richard Reserves.
Scott Hammill opened the scoring, before Dylan Mobbs and Mouhammed Ainine found the net for the visitors to seal their first win of the campaign.
Burnley United picked up three points on the road as they were fired to a 2-0 victory at Cartmel by a Bobby Carter brace.
Garstang Reserves rescued at point at Storeys late on, with Matthew Poole’s opener cancelled out by Lewis Wellings in the 92nd minute in a 1-1 draw.
And rounding off the Division Two action, AFC Blackpool Reserves beat Dalton United 2-1.
Division One Reserve: Ten out of ten display from Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves
Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves moved level at the top of division in style, as they beat Croston Sports 10-0.
With Lostock St Gerards Reserves not in action this weekend, it presented both Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves and Thornton Cleveleys Reserves with the opportunity to draw level with the league leaders with victory.
And Thornton Cleveleys Reserves also seized the opportunity, beating Hurst Green Reserves 3-2 in a dramatic clash.
Scott Craven had seemingly snatched a point for Hurst Green Reserves when he levelled the game at 2-2 in the final minute of normal time, only for Danny Hadcraft to score just a minute later to restore Thornton Cleveleys Reserves’ lead and seal all three points.
Thornton Cleveleys Reserves’ George McAuley and Danny Sumner and Keegan Dobson of Hurst Green Reserves were the game’s other scorers.
A Scott Hendy hat-trick helped Coppull United Reserves on their way to a 5-0 win over Poulton Reserves. Gregg Brickell and Chris Fletcher also got on the scoresheet.
Nick Skelly was also the hat-trick hero for his Tempest United Reserves side, as they beat Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves 3-2.
Patrick O’Flaherty and Callum Davis pulled goals back for Horwich St Mary’s Victoria to set up a potentially miraculously comeback, but they would ultimately run out of time in their pursuit for a third goal.
CMB Reserves would also secure a 3-2 victory, beating Fulwood Amateurs Reserves thanks to two goals from Lewis Cullen and a Jamie Boyd strike. James Sidebottom and Corey Gill were on target for Fulwood Amateurs Reserves.
Division Two Reserve: Eagley Reserves pounce on leaders’ washout
Eagley Reserves capitalised on Rossendale Reserves being out of action by beating Lytham Town Reserves 4-0 to move to the top of the table.
Jordan Hibbert hit a double, whilst Corey Harrison and Mike Linney also found the net.
Rossendale Reserves were denied the opportunity to match Eagley’s exploits by the weather, as their clash with Carnforth Rangers Reserves had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Back to the action that did take place, and Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves put in a great team display as they beat Thornton Cleveleys A 5-1.
Jack Sloman, Will Booth, Chris Harper, Adam Pashley and Louie Cooper all got on the scoresheet, with Charlie Warrington getting Thornton Cleveleys A’s only goal.
The final two league games of the weekend both ended level, as Fulwood Amateurs A and Storeys Reserves played out a 2-2 draw, whilst Haslingden St Marys Reserves and Hesketh Bank Reserves drew 3-3.
Lancashire Amateur Shield: Croston Sports continue cup adventure
Croston Sports are though to the third round of the Lancashire Amateur Shield after they saw off Royton 2-1 in their second-round tie.
Lancashire Amateur Cup: Euxton Villa and Turton Reserves complete West Lancs double
It was equally good news for West Lancashire League sides in the Lancashire Amateur Cup, as Euxton Villa Reserves and Turton Reserves both secured safe passages through to the third round.
