Hurst Green's hoodoo over Fulwood goes on!

Hurst Green beat title-chasing Fulwood Amateurs at the San Smithy for the fifth successive season with another impressive win writes ROSS CHAPMAN, with pictures from Haslingden St Mary's v Blackpool Wren Rovers by CAIT MASON.

Fulwood Amateurs, the side who went into the weekend top of the league, succumbed again going down 4-1 to continue their miserable record at Hurst Green where they have failed to get a point in the past five visits.

Their first two goals were scored by Scott Craven and Jordan Monk before Glenn Steel pulled one back for Fulwood.

Tom Divver then restored the two goal cushion for Hurst Green and Kian Ellis added a fourth in stoppage time to complete their latest win.

Mason McKay scored twice as Lostock St Gerards got a 4-0 away win at Poulton, with Ryan Fletcher and Josh Sarda also on the scoresheet.

Rossendale will wonder how they left Burscough Richmond without three points let alone empty handed after a dramatic late comeback by the home side in a 3-2 cliffhanger.

The visitors started brightly and went ahead when Sam Moriarty’s brilliant defence-splitting pass fed Rico Pembele with the winger duly slotting home from 15 yards.

Burscough created a few half chances but had to wait until the 37th minute to draw level, Jordan Lorde turning his marker and unleashing a 25-yarder into the top corner.

Rossendale could have gone back ahead immediately when Cole Exley rounded the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line by Dillan Bosique-Green.

They only had to wait four minutes into the second half to do just that – Luke Simpson’s deflected effort going in off a post.

As Burscough pushed in search of an equaliser, Rossendale could have hit them numerous times on the counter-attack, Exley and Scott Wylie going close as the home goal led a charmed life.

An unfortunate own goal drew the game level at 2-2 on 87 minutes but again, Rossendale had the next best chance to win it, Jack Lawrence saving brilliantly low down from Simpson’s daisy-cutter from the edge of the area.

It was deep into stoppage time when Richmond grabbed the winner, Lorde feeding sub Jake Whiley to tap home for a vital three points and leave Rossendale bewildered.

Coppull United were 4-1 winners on home turf against CMB, in large part thanks to first half hat trick heroics.

CMB did take the lead through Charlie Scholes midway through the first 45, but just two minutes later, Josh Staniforth equalised.

Staniforth went on to score two more goals for Coppull before the break to give them breathing space, before Jimmy McGiver capped off the win with five minutes of normal time remaining.

Haslingden St Marys earned a 3-0 win over Blackpool Wren Rovers, with all three goals coming in 10 first half minutes.

Alfie Edmondson opened the scoring on 26 minutes before Tom Hulme bagged a quick fire brace.

With Fulwood Amateurs’ loss to Hurst Green, Tempest United are the new league leaders on goal difference after rescuing a point at home to Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Henry Brownlie and Jonny Voortman put Milnthorpe 2-0 up and, with only 10 or so minutes of the game remaining, it looked like they would go home with the three points, but Sam Parkinson scored twice for Tempest late on to send them to the summit of the Premier Division.

Elsewhere, Eagley came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Whitehaven.

A Daniel Hill effort and an own goal put Whitehaven two up before the half hour mark.

Marcus Barlow halved the deficit on the stroke of half time and Cole Collins levelled after the break.

In Division One, a ruthless Chipping got a comprehensive 7-1 away victory over Slyne with Hest.

They took the lead through an own goal but their other six goals were all the result of relentless forward play, Aaron Quigley scored four while Kieron Whitworth and Hugo Strand also netted.

A resolute Crooklands Casuals had a hat trick hero as they battled to a 4-3 win at Freckleton.

Jack Williams opened the scoring for the hosts from 12 yards before Lee Irving put away his first of the afternoon.

Dylan Chauhan restored Freckleton’s lead and took them into half time in front.

Ryan Rodgers equalised before Zach Smith gave Freckleton a third lead of the match.

However, Lee Irving had other ideas, he scored twice in four second half minutes to turn the game around and secure three points for Crooklands Casuals.

The top two of the division at the start of play met on Saturday afternoon, with Astley & Buckshaw scoring late on in a close run match to win 1-0 against Holker Old Boys Reserves, with the only goal of the game coming courtesy of Callum Williams.

Millom are now second in the division after a 3-0 win at Southport Hesketh, with Matthew Pachul, Theo Wilson and Callum High finding the net.

Hesketh Bank earned three points on the road with a 3-1 victory at Lytham Town.

The hosts took the lead close to the halfway mark of the first 45 thanks to Rory Kelly, but Hesketh Bank came out a different side in the second.

Dion Holden equalised before Lewis Johnson gave the visitors the lead and Kevin Edgar made sure of the win four minutes into stoppage time.

Kendal County beat Croston Sports 3-1 thanks to goals from Louis Miller, Curtis Nicholson and Jacob Carway.

Croston Sports’ goal was scored by Scott Hendy.

Jack Milburn bagged a brace in Ulverston Rangers’ 2-0 win at home to Turton.

Finally in Division One, Cole Holt got the only goal as Carnforth Rangers edged a tight game against Askam United in a 1-0 win.

In Division Two, there were high-scoring wins for all of the top four, starting with Mill Hill who enjoyed an 8-1 win at home to Caton United.

Seven of the eight goals were scored in the first half and, extraordinarily, six of those within the opening 20 minutes.

Curtis Poole and Louis Almond completed first half hat tricks and there was just six minutes between the latter’s first and third goals.

Mitchell George got two for Mill Hill while the sole positive on a tough day for Caton was Tommy Lund’s first half goal.

Pause United produced a five-star display against Barnoldswick Town Reserves in a 5-0 victory.

Ben McMeeking, Taylor Fagan, Zac Clark (2) and Richard Hart all found the back of the net to stay top of the table.

Kendal United also put five past their opponents, beating Galgate 5-2 away from home.

The visitors were quick out of the blocks, netting three times in the first 15 minutes through Jamie Harris, Lewis Airey and Jamie Looker.

The hosts also scored in that time through Bailey Bates.

Looker added a fourth for Kendal United and a second for himself just before the break.

Galgate began the second half brightly with Chris Stripp scoring from the spot as the side tried to get something from the game but Jason Jones added his team’s fifth with just eight minutes left.

Stoneclough’s 4-3 comeback win against Dalton United moved them up to fourth in the table.

They took the lead early on thanks to Aaqil Campbell but the prolific Robbie McMurdo equalised for Dalton.

Much like the first, Stoneclough started the second half full of energy and restored the advantage through Jack Littlewood.

However, in the first of two twists in the afternoon, Scott McDonald levelled it up before Harvey Cooper put Dalton ahead.

Stoneclough had not given up though and were pushing to get something from the game, which was exactly what they did, Harvey Roberts equalising for them before Aaqil Campbell, who got the first strike of the game, rounded off the goal action and completed the comeback.

Storeys of Lancaster secured a 2-1 win at home to Hawcoat Park, who took the lead just before the break through Ryan Magtoto.

Luke Atkinson equalised for Storeys before Matthew Poole’s penalty in the second minute of added time got them the win.

In Reserve Division One, Fulwood Amateurs Reserves were 3-2 winners against Coppull United.

Liam Taylor scored within a minute for Fulwood and their lead was doubled through Issak Webster on 20 minutes.

Liam Hardman halved the deficit for Coppull but Alfie Raymond restored the two goal difference between the sides with five minutes of the first half left.

Callum Ellis pulled one back for Coppull in the second 45 but Fulwood Amateurs saw this one out.

Eagley Reserves picked up three points at home to Poulton Reserves in a 2-1 win.

First half goals from Jordan Hibbert and Joe Finnan won them the game before a consolation from Ellis Jolly.

Turton Reserves beat Tempest United Reserves 2-1 thanks to second half strikes from Ethan Willis-Williams and Dominic Farrimond.

Chipping Reserves and Haslingden St Marys Reserves played out a 2-2 draw, but Chipping will feel like they should have taken all three points.

Gareth Jones and Oscar Middlesbrough put them two up with 15 minutes left but Haslingden equalised at the death.

Matthew Martindale’s penalty got a goal back before Forlan Jakovlevs scored the dramatic leveller.

In Reserve Division Two, Caton United Reserves gained a first win of the season as they beat Storeys Reserves 4-0.

Sam Hodgson, Jamie Townley and Declan Lightfoot all netted in the first half before Leon Lyon added a fourth midway through the second.

Hurst Green Reserves secured a 2-1 win away to Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Daniel Mort got the opener before Tom Jackson levelled from the penalty spot, but John Stead regained the lead for Hurst Green.

Stoneclough Reserves drew 2-2 with Lytham Town Reserves.

A Stoneclough own goal was cancelled out by Elliott Beaver’s penalty inside the opening 15 minutes.

Harris Fairgreave put Lytham ahead again but Milo Clarke rescued a point for Stoneclough.
