Premier Division: CMB clinch crucial three points

The race for the Premier Division title took another twist this weekend, with CMB reclaiming top spot with victory over previous leaders Burscough Richmond.

Goals from Dylan Winstanley and Obi Ebizie sealed a 2-0 win that took CMB to the summit on goal difference, though Burscough Richmond do still possess a game in hand.

Poulton also continue to lurk dangerously, just three points behind the top two, after a 4-0 win against Vickerstown.

Nick Hepple scored twice, including one from the spot, whilst Josh Few and Max Landless also got on the scoresheet.

It was a significant Saturday at the other end of the table too, with Lytham Town strengthen their survival bid with an impressive 5-2 win over Slyne with Hest.

A Ross Ainsworth hat-trick, along with goals from Danny Scarlett and Tom Eastham, secured three points which take Lytham Town to within two points of safety, though they have played more than anyone else in the division.

Slyne with Hest’s goals were scored by Josh Draycott and Reece Pearce.

Whitehaven also eased their own relegation fears, defeating Wyre Villa 2-0 to leapfrog their opponents.

Travis Fyfe opened the scoring 10 minutes in, before Owen Woodburn added another late.

That results saw Whitehaven jump two places in total, that after Blackpool Wren Rovers also beat Hurst Green 2-1.

Goals from Tarren Moxon and Robbie Hulme established a 2-0 half-time lead, and despite Liam Dewhurst halving the deficit shortly after the break, Blackpool Wren Rovers would hold on to take all three points.

Elsewhere, two goals from Aaron Thorpe saw Tempest United beat Turton 2-1, that despite Ricardo Pembele pulling one back with 11 minutes to play.

Meanwhile, Fulwood Amateurs and Coppull United played out a 1-1, after an own was cancelled out by Taylor Brickell just before the break.

Division One: Rossendale edge battle of chasing duo

Rossendale jumped above Hesketh Bank into second with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Will Foster opened the scoring with a header off the post on 14 minutes from a fine left wing cross.

After the Rossendale keeper, Vincent McLoughlin, made a stunning save from a deflected Kevin Edgar strike, Luke Smith equalised with another close-range header on 34 minutes.

Scott Wylie restored the away side's advantage on the stroke of half-time, drilling home low into the corner.

McLoughlin again denied Hesketh Bank when player manager Dan Birkby thought he had pulled them level again but the stopper produced another fingertip save to earn Rossendale three vital points in their promotion charge.

Leaders Lostock St Gerards though powered on, unaffected by events around them, registering a 5-0 win at Carnforth Rangers.

Zach Wilkes and Oliver Evans both bagged braces, whilst Josh Sarda also grabbed a goal.

Crooklands Casuals extended the gap the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Stoneclough.

Joe Blackshaw opened the scoring for Crooklands Casuals, with Nathan Shaw later restoring their advantage in rapid fashion after Stoneclough had found an equaliser through Aaqil Campbell.

Both Hawcoat Park and Stoneclough, the division’s current top two, have games in hand on Crooklands Casuals, but will have register significant results in those games if they are to cut a gap to safety which now stands at seven points.

Eagley are subject to no such worries, sitting fourth in the table and having registered an emphatic 6-1 win at Southport Hesketh this weekend.

Luke Bradbury and Bailey Wallace both scored twice, with Kieran Sissons and Finlay Stafford also finding the net.

Tom Cunliffe scored Southport Hesketh’s only goal.

Kendal County also recorded an ultimately comfortable victory on the road, beating Croston Sports 4-1 thanks to a Matthew Casson double, and goals from Connor Walmsley and Cameron Khan.

Spencer Mercer had pulled Croston Sports back level at 1-1, but that was good as things got for his side.

And finally in Division One, Sam Pinnegor got the only goal as Ulverston Rangers beat Horwich St Mary’s Victoria 1-0.

Division Two: Five-star performance fires Freckleton to top

Freckleton are now top of Division Two, that after they beat Cartmel 5-0 in a game where Dylan Agnew, Joe Bentley, Elliott Dickson, Sam Milburn and Samson Ogundaisi all found the net.

Freckleton replace Holker Old Boys Reserves at the top, who this weekend saw their scheduled fixture against Burnley United postponed.

Meanwhile, third-placed Walney Island also registered a big win as triumphed 6-1 over Galgate.

James Bailey hit four and Hayden Skymre also scored twice, before Tom O’Neill netted a consolation for Galgate late on.

But whatever Bailey could do, Oliver Oxley could do just as well, as he also found the net four times for Charnock Richard Reserves in their 5-2 victory over Pause United.

James Bowell rounded off the victors’ scoring, whilst Pause United’s goals both came via Wayne Beswick.

AFC Blackpool Reserves twice battled from a goal down on their way to a 3-2 at Dalton United.

Keith Holmes put the hosts in front just three minutes in, and they would lead again via Jordan Chubb after Nathan Feeney had equalised for AFC Blackpool Reserves.

But Ralph Threlfall-Newton would pull the visitors level for a second time, before Declan Bond netted to seal all three points four minutes from time.

Chipping also picked up a 3-2 win, defeating the visiting Euxton Villa Reserves thanks to goals from Rick Coar, Harris Bailey and Ethan Edmundson.

Daniel Craig, Bailey Kenny and Jamie Harris were all on target as Kendal United won 3-0 at Garstang Reserves.

And rounding off the weekend’s Division Two action, Storeys beat Astley and Buckshaw 2-1 thanks to goals from Jack Preston and Luke Barmby, which came either side of Wes Bajrallu’s leveller.

Division One Reserve: Brookes stars in barnstorming draw

Ryan Brookes netted a hat-trick for Hurst Green Reserves as they played out 4-4 draw with Poulton Reserves.

Gary Knight also scored for Hurst Green Reserves, whilst Poulton Reserves’ goals came courtesy of Caldon Henson, Josh Davis and a Jarrod Bain brace.

The division’s other two games this weekend both ended 1-0.

A Gregg Brickell goal was enough to see Coppull United Reserves beat Turton Reserves, whilst Lostock St Gerards Reserves extended their lead at the top of table, defeating Thornton Cleveleys Reserves thanks to a strike from Danny Fryer.

Division Two Reserve: Elation for Eagley Reserves as promotion confirmed

Run-away leaders Eagley Reserves officially sealed promotion this weekend with a 3-1 win over Storeys Reserves.

Storeys Reserves actually took the lead through Kyle Summers, before goals from John Sharples, Akbar Khosbab and Charlie Needham turned the game around.

In the only other game to played in the division this weekend, Chipping Reserves also won 3-1, picking up three points on the road at Fulwood Amateurs A.
