Prem - Impressive Cumbrians gaining momentum

Carl Denver scored a hat-trick for Whitehaven, with the game’s other goals coming courtesy of Travis Fyfe, Josh Green, Owen Woodburn, Kevin Holiday and an own goal.

That result leaves Whitehaven in third, just three points behind the top two and with a game in hand on those around them.

Leading the division with 13 points after matchday five are Poulton and Burscough Richmond, with the former maintaining their goal difference advantage at the top thanks to a 4-1 win at Coppull United.

Poulton’s Nick Hepple netted his second hat-trick in three games, with Josh Few also getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Ethan Wellington scored Coppull United’s only goal of the game.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Slyne with Hest made it two wins on the spin as they beat Wyre Villa 5-0.

Josh Draycott grabbed a brace for Slyne with Hest, whilst teammate Reece Pearce went one better with an impressive first-half hat-trick.

Sam Rigby’s second-half strike was enough to see Turton pick up their first victory of the league campaign with a 1-0 win against Blackpool Wren Rovers.

Thornton Cleveleys would secure victory by the same scoreline as Jordan Beavers’ early goal saw them triumph over CMB.

Tempest United recorded their first away win of the season with a 2-1 win at Hurst Green.

Tom Booth’s opener for Tempest United was cancelled out by Hurst Green’s Harry Smith, before Jordan Pendlebury restored the visitors’ lead with a goal that would ultimately prove decisive.

Rounding off the Premier Division action, and the league’s only draw of the weekend came at Vickerstown, who played out a 2-2 draw with Fulwood Amateurs.

Kyle Delves and Scott McDonald were the scorers for Vickerstown, whilst Will Pitt and Lucas Gornall found the net for Fulwood Amateurs.

Division One: Lostock St Gerards put in 10/10 performance

Lostock St Gerards bounced back from a midweek defeat in emphatic fashion with a 10-0 victory away at Horwich St Mary’s Victoria.

Oliver Evans scored four, James Morley grabbed two and Alex Santos, Ben Hudson, Daniel Cooper and Ryan Moore all also got on the scoresheet to cap a remarkable win for Lostock St Gerards.

Table-toppers Hesketh Bank made it five wins from five to start the season as they defeated Stoneclough 5-1.

In an impressive individual display, Kevin Edgar netted all five of Hesketh Bank’s goals, whilst Steve Thomas was the goalscorer for Stoneclough.

Not to be outdone by the league leaders, Rossendale, who currently occupy second, also won 5-1 as they picked up three points against Crookland Casuals.

The two sides were locked level at 0-0 going into the second half, but a hat-trick from Scott Wylie, along with goals from Tom Walker and Tom Hulme would power Rossendale to victory. Morgan Trelore scored Crookland Casuals’ only goal.

A brace from Paul Lomax helped Eagley on their way to their first win of the season, with Sam Walker scoring the other goal in a 3-0 win against Hawcoat Park.

Haslingden St Marys and Askam United, who sit side-by-side in the Division One table, couldn’t be separated on the pitch either as they played out a 1-1 draw.

Aiden Pearson opened the scoring for Askam United, but Haslingden St Mary’s found an equaliser just before half-time through Alfie Edmundson to secure a share of the points.

Kendal County and Ulverston Rangers both picked up 1-0 home wins, seeing off Croston Sports and Southport Hesketh respectively.

Connor Walmsley’s goal was enough to secure all three points for Kendal County, whilst Sam Pinnegor scored the only goal of the game at Ulverston Rangers.

Carnforth Rangers would also seal victory by the same margin, albeit away from home, as Joe Jobling’s first-half penalty proved decisive in their game at Millom.

Division Two: Brilliant Bailey extends hat-trick streak

James Bailey’s scarcely believable start to the season went on as he netted a fifth hat-trick as many games to help Walney Island to a 6-1 win at AFC Blackpool Reserves.

Holker Old Boys Reserves also won 7-0, with goals from Farrell Foster, Luke Mitchell, Daryl Foster, Tom Stevenson, Dylan Ellis and two from Danny Pattinson securing victory over Storeys.

Freckleton, the current closest challengers to Walney Island at the top of the table, kept up their pursuit with a 3-1 against Burnley United.

A brace from Kiefer Cunningham gave Freckleton a 2-0 lead in the first half, before Burnley United’s Harris Tomlinson pulled one back on the hour. Joe Bentley would though restore Freckleton’s two-goal lead eleven minutes later, making sure of the points.

Astley and Buckshaw continued their fine start to life in the West Lancashire League with a 2-1 at Dalton United.

Jordan Mitchell’s double, either side of a goal from Dalton United’s Jordan Chubb, was enough to give the visitors their fourth win in five games, a run that places them fourth in the Division Two table.

Euxton Villa Reserves also won 2-1 on the road, coming from behind to beat Cartmel.

Ryan Patterson opened the scoring for Cartmel, but Euxton Villa Reserves would eventually take the win thanks to Ben Robinson-Parker penalty and what would prove to be a winning goal from Liam Fielding.

Garstang Reserves would too taste victory after conceding first in their 3-2 triumph over Charnock Richard Reserves.

Garstang Reserves trailed after just three minutes as Cameron Laurie opened the scoring for Charnock Richard Reserves, but two goals from Jake Salisbury and one from Tom Graham in between would give Garstang Reserves a 3-1 lead at half-time.

Joe Leather would pull one back for Charnock Richard Reserves early in the second-half, but that would be as close as they got to mounting a comeback of their own.

Ethan Edmundson’s goal on the half-hour mark was enough to see Chipping beat Kendal United 1-0.

Division One Reserve: Lostock St Gerards Reserves run riot

Lostock St Gerards Reserves matched the goalscoring exploits of the first team by hitting double figures in a 10-3 win over Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves.

Division Two Reserves: Lytham Town Reserves win big again

Having won 8-1 last weekend, Lytham Town Reserves went further this time out, defeating Galgate Reserves 9-0.

Harvey Shaw netted four for Lytham Town Reserves, as goals Tom Bell, Grant McKenzie, Finlay Best, Leo Saxon and an own goal rounded off the scoring.

That result left Lytham Town Reserves third in the table, behind Rossendale Reserves and Haslingden St Marys Reserves, both of whom continued their 100% records with wins this weekend.

Rossendale Reserves, currently top, beat Fulwood Amateurs A 2-0, whilst second-placed Haslingden St Marys Reserves saw off Thornton Cleveleys A 3-1.

Thornton Cleveleys A had led through Owen Bridge, but goals from Oliver McDonald, Rico Gavan and Layton Clough helped Haslingden St Reserves turn the game around and continue their perfect start.

Eagley Reserves also came from a goal down to claim victory as they won 2-1 against Carnforth Rangers Reserves.

Two goals in four minutes for Eagley Reserves courtesy of Jake Hurst and Gary Ash sealed the win, despite Caleb Brouwer’s early goal for Carnforth Rangers Reserves.
