LIGHTS ON FOR TOWN!

LONGRIDGE TOWN boss Lee Ashcroft is urging all football fans in the Preston area to get along to the Mike Riding Ground tomorrow (Wednesday) to be a part of history when Vickerstown of Barrow are the visitors (writes Howard Jones).
Ashcroft said: “It’s a big night in the history of Longridge Town Football Club tomorrow not only because the Richardson Cup is on our radar to win this season, but it’s our first home game ever under lights.”
Fans are urged to get to the MRG early tomorrow and season ticket holders should note that their cards are NOT VALID for this cup-tie.
The game is ALL PAY ON THE NIGHT - £3 (including special souvenir programme).
While winter rains have hampered the season so far it is not expected to call a halt to this re-arranged fixture with the Cumbrian side - a side Town have already done the double over in the West Lancs League Premier Division this season, including a 3-0 win on Walney Island 10 days ago.
Kick-off at the MRG is at 7.30pm when the game will be dedicated to the memory of local footballer Tom Pinder who passed away last week after a long illness.
Town chairman Brian Parkinson paid tribute, saying: “Tom and l grew up through the local football and semi-pro ranks and he will be sadly missed, especially by me.”
The club are hosting a minute’s applause before the action gets underway on Wednesday night as a mark of respect!
