Premier Division: Poulton pursue Turton in relegation scrap
Poulton took full advantage of Turton having a week off this weekend with a 3-2 win over Vickerstown moving the away side level on points with their relegation-threatened rivals.
Josh Few, Cody Harrison and Aaron Fleming all scored in six second half minutes to help Poulton fight back from 2-0 down, after conceding goals to Robert Bruce and Scott McDonald.
The result puts Poulton level with Turton on 24 points, though the latter have a game in hand, at home to Coppull United on Wednesday.
Poulton and Turton face off in a potential do-or-die match on the final day of the season on May 7.
Thornton Cleveleys won the league with their win over Blackpool Wren Rovers.
It has been a spectacular season for Thornton and Billy Dollin’s goal was enough to secure the league after Fulwood Amateurs failed to beat Tempest United.
The result in that game was 2-0 to Tempest. Fulwood’s pursuit of top spot in the second half of this season has been a delight however and, despite Kurt Farlow and Matthew Davies’ goals sentencing them to disappointment this season, there is no doubt that they have kept Thornton on their toes throughout the year.
Euxton Villa currently occupy third spot after their 4-0 bettering of Slyne with Hest. Nathan Parish scored twice, with George Davies and Josh Briggs netting also.
The other Premier Division game saw Whitehaven Amateurs secure their own safety after a late Paul Lomas winner gave them the three points against Burscough Richmond.
Division 1: Wyre want Moore and Moore
Wyre Villa have kept themselves in the hunt for promotion - and maybe the title in Division 1 - following their 6-1 spanking of Eagley.
Ryan Moore’s hat-trick, coupled with goals from Richie Allen, Harvey Close and Oliver Evans ensured that Wyre, who have four games in hand on table-topping Milnthorpe Corinthians, would keep themselves in contention as the season neared its conclusion.
Rhys Hardie’s solitary goal for Eagley was the one negative on the day for Wyre.
Milnthorpe also managed to win their game, though in a much less convincing manner.
It took until 80 minutes for Brandon Crosskill-Robinson to net his second of the game to hand Milnthorpe a 3-2 win.
The league leaders’ other goal came courtesy of an own goal, while Charlie Holt netted for Haslingden St Marys.
Aaqil Campbell’s double was enough to help Stoneclough beat Hesketh Bank, that is despite Bradley Flux’s late consolation goal in a big blow to Hesketh's promotion hopes.
Horwich St Marys Victoria managed a 3-1 win over Hawcoat Park to maintain their Division One status.
Ryan Lilley, Sam Parkinson and Alex MacKenzie all netting for the home side whilst Matthew Pickering got one late on for Hawcoat.
Croston Sports took three points back home with them following a 2-0 win on the road to Lostock St Gerards. Sam Swarbrick and Harvey Parker bagging in that win.
Ulverston Rangers also got a win and a clean sheet on the road; beating Millom 1-0 through a Sam Pinnegor finish.
Division 2: Power-ful Charnock just keep themselves in top-four contention
With many Division 2 sides having concluded their seasons, there are very few positions that can change.
Charnock Richard Reserves are one side that are working towards a goal however, and their 7-2 win over Dalton United keeps them well in the running for top four.
Luke Power (pictured top) scored five of Charnock’s goals, with Ross O’Farrell netting the other two.
The win takes them within six points of fourth with two games to play. Goal difference could be the decider, so the home side could end up ruing the goals of Keith Holmes and Gareth Jones that gave Dalton their two.
The other three games in the division all ended 2-1.
Galgate beat Storeys - Jamie Bedford and Jacob Kowalik scoring for Galgate either side of Tyron Dodgson’s goal; Walney Island defeated previously-unbeaten Division 2 winners Rossendale - Will Foster’s goal being rendered irrelevant by those of Joe McMullan and James Bailey; and Kendal beating Chipping - an own goal and Max Barron’s late winner preventing Harris Bailey’s goal having too much of a say in proceedings.
Division 1 Reserve: Hurst hit 10
Hurst Green Reserves scored 10 goals in a stunning victory over Eagley Reserves. The scoreline is so high that, rather than attempt to dress this game up with vocabulary, I’m simply going to list the scorers.
Eagley’s goal was courtesy of Liam Costello. Hurst’s scorers were: John Stead (four goals); Matthew Bagot (two goals); Louis James; Max Bryden; Matthew Devine and Zac Foley.
Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves also won big - beating Burscough Richmond Reserves 5-0. Luke Smith scored twice, while Tomy Hanslip, Olly Hesford and an unfortunate Burscough player also netted for Wrens.
Turton Reserves kept up the goal fest. A 4-1 win over Thornton Cleveleys Reserves came thanks to goals from Andy Lane, Tom Gilbertson. Jason Perry and Callum Higson. Harry Fryer’s finish for Thornton wasn’t enough for the visiting side to get anything from the game.
A spectacularly fun late flurry of goals saw Poulton Reserves beat Lostock St Gerards Reserves 3-1. It was 1-0 to Poulton - Ralf Thelfall-Newton was the scorer - until the 84th-minute, when Adam Stone drew Lostock level, but two late, late goals from Chris Long and Billy Bould ensured that Poulton didn’t overly regret their late concession.
Division 2 Reserve: Bottom of the league battle rumbles on
Thornton Cleveleys A and Galgate Reserves both lost convincingly as the two sides battle it out to finish outside of the bottom two this season.
Thornton lost 3-0 to Coppull United Reserves - Tom Cooper and two from Gregg Brickell consigned them to this loss - while Galgate went one worse with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Wyre Villa Reserves - Rob Norton and Sam Milburn both netting twice here.
The two sides are level on points, though Thornton have a huge 12 goal difference advantage.
Lytham Town Reserves beat Rossendale Reserves 2-1, despite going behind to a Danny Harris goal. Danny Scarlett and Alan Greenwood completing the turnaround there.
Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves also won 2-1. An own goal gave them the advantage after the break and Tom Jackson doubled it before Nathan Crook got one back for a losing Chipping Reserves side.
