Meet Ross - our new West Lancs weekend reporter

By Andy Sykes

The West Lancashire League has made a key signing ahead of the 2024/25 season - a new weekend round-up reporter.

Ross Chapman, a Year 2 Sports Journalism student at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, has taken the reins from fellow student Ben Smith, who graduated from the same course earlier this month.

Ben had covered the role for two seasons following on the good work of Theo Hewson-Betts.

As well as his studies, Ross works for Beyond Radio, which broadcasts across North Lancashire and Morecambe Bay, writing sports stories and co-presenting its Saturday Sport Show from 9am every Saturday.

He also is part of the media team at Lancaster City and recently started writing about the Olympics for VAVEL.

He said: "I'm delighted to join the West Lancashire League as their media weekend reporter for this season.

"I'm familiar with a number of West Lancs teams from my work at Beyond Radio and look forward to reporting on, and learning more about, more teams in the coming months.

"The 2024/25 season promises to be an entertaining one and I'm very excited to get started!

Clubs can help Ross by providing full match facts including scorers and goal times when submitting match results for the website.
