Milnthorpe Corinthians FC Groundsman Wins F.A National Groundsman Of The Year Award

Corinthians groundsman Matthew Lawson has been awarded the FA National step 7 and below groundsman of the year award following a presentation by the FA at an awards ceremony at the England St Georges Park Centre.
Nominated by his club Matthew was then put forward by the Westmorland FA and was interviewed at length by Lee Jackson ( Man City Head groundsman ) & Richard Norton ( Bolton Wanderers Head Groundsman ) and won the North west award.
Mathew was then put through to the National finals and won the top award .
Corinthians chairman Ian Hunt said. “We are all delighted Matt has won this award and he totally deserves it for all the hard work he has put in to the pitch over the past 2 seasons with a limited budget.
All volunteers at our level deserve this kind of recognition for the time they spend helping our sport at grass roots. As well as good for our club it is a good indication of the pitch standards in the West Lancs League and we also thank the Westmorland FA for supporting us. ”
