Mauro Talmantes was the player perhaps most disappointed with the result, considering his hat-trick for Poulton was not enough to earn a point.

Dylan Winstanley had scored CMB’s opening goal before Charlie Scholes scored a hat-trick of his own to tie up the win.

Blackpool Wren Rovers moved up to sixth with a hard-fought win over strugglers Southport Hesketh.

The Merseysiders frustrated the home side in a scrappy first half played in sweeping rain with chances at a premium.

Jack Arrowsmith was the home danger man but too many attacking phases broke down with misplaced passes or wayward long-distance efforts.

And the home side had Josh Woods to thank for denying Hesketh’s pacey sub Mo Samateh with a point-blank save just before the half-time interval.

Seasoned striker Carl Eastwood was brought off the bench for the second half and his introduction changed the game.

The burly frontman helped Craig Doble’s men keep the ball with textbook hold up play and with fellow sub Jackson Hulme orchestrating the midfield, they began to dominate possession.

And the opener finally arrived after Hulme burst down the right wing before he sent in a low cross which Arrowsmith swept home with 10 minutes left on the clock.

And Arrowsmith doubled the victory margin from the spot on 89 minutes when David Lang was felled just inside the area.

Tempest United put four past Whitehaven Amateurs without response to move up to tenth in the league.

Joel Shorthouse and Aaron Thorpe scoring once each for Tempest with Jordon Coop getting a brace.

Burscough Richmond triumphed 2-1 over Coppull United. Billy Whittle and Jordan Lorde put Burscough two-to-the-good before and an own-goal narrowed the scoreline with 15 minutes still to play.

The home side held on though to move level on points with Hurst Green.

The Ribble Valley side themselves recorded a plucky draw with second-placed Euxton Villa. Villa had gone ahead in the first half through Alex Colquhoun, only for an 89th-minute own goal to split the points between the two teams.

Euxton’s title rivals Thornton Cleveleys saw off Vickerstown with a solitary strike. That game was 1-0 to the league leaders, with Adam Heaney scoring the decisive goal within 15 minutes.

Goals from Kiron Sisson and Harry Wood ensured that Turton beat Slyne with Hest 2-0. That result closed the gap between the two sides to only one point, as both look to escape the scrap at the bottom of the division.

A mid-table clash between Lytham Town and Fulwood Amateurs ended 0-0. Fulwood may currently be eight points shy of second-placed Euxton Villa but the club also has three games in hand, which promises to keep the battle near the top of the division interesting as they look to chase down the rest of the pack.

Division 1 - 11-goal thriller goes down to final whistle

Mark Jackson was the hero of heroes this weekend across the division. He scored a hat-trick, including a 90th-minute winner, in Ulverston Rangers’ 6-5 win over Lostock St Gerards. Mark Carlton and Jordan Glover had put Lostock in the driver’s seat before Jordan McGarry brought one back for Ulverston.

The deficit was back up to two goals before the break though thanks to a late own goal.

Mark Jackson scored his first just after half-time to close the teams together again, but Harry Ryding, and then Wes Alexander put the game surely out of reach.

Jackson then got his second, Sean Mooney scored three minutes later and Josh Catlott levelled with a quarter of an hour still to play. Finally, Jackson netted his third of the game in the last minute to tie up the win.

Haslingden St Mary's survived a late scare to see off Askam United. Goals from Reece Barton (2) and Harvey Hayhurst gave Haslingden a big advantage going into the last third of the game, only for a Sam Taylor brace to cause concern, Haslingden held on well though.

Wyre Villa were the beneficiaries of two own goals scored by Hesketh Bank in their 2-2 draw. Hesketh’s goals were scored by Kevin Edgar and Tom Smyth and came either side of the OG double.

Eagley and Millom also drew 2-2 in their game. Drew Postlewaite opened the scoring for Millom before Jordan Hibbert and Bailey Wallace swung the game in Eagley’s favour. Jamie Pattinson’s late equaliser won each team a point.

Kendal County moved away from second-bottom with a 2-1 win over Croston Sports. Kendal’s goals came courtesy of Brody Moffatt and an own goal, with Don Swarbrick scoring for Croston.

Milnthorpe Corinthians beat Hawcoat Park 1-0 thanks to Aaron Hoyle’s second-half penalty with Stoneclough beating Horwich St Mary's Victoria by the same margin. Aaron Hargreaves scored for Stoneclough in that one.

Division 2: Rossendale hit Furness for six

Rossendale scored three goals in each half in their 6-1 victory over Furness Rovers. Will Foster, Scott Wylie, Luke Simpson and Jack Cassidy got a goal each for Rossendale with Tom Hulme scoring twice. Liam Shields scored Furness’ solitary goal.

Sam Milburn scored a hat-trick for Charnock Richard Reserves in their 3-0 win over Garstang.

Freckleton fought back from a deficit to beat Galgate 3-1. Aaron Helliwell’s penalty handed Galgate the lead before finishes from Jack Williams, Reece Jones and Owen Johnrose ensured that the visitors travelled home with three points.

Bailey Kenny’s last-minute penalty rescued a draw doe Kendal United against Storeys. Kendal had gone in front through Marco Thompson before Wayne Beswick and Matthew Poole turned the tables on the travellers. Kenny’s penalty prevented Kendal from dropping to eighth in the table.

Robbie McMurdo’s goal was cancelled out by Brandon Masson’s 93rd-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw between Dalton United and Burnley United.

Chipping also drew 1-1 with Carnforth Rangers with Harris Bailey being the one to earn Chipping’s point.

Walney Island won out 2-0 against Cartmel & District, thanks to smart finishes on either side of the half-time break from James Bailey and Zach Walker.

Division 1 Reserves: Four goals not enough for Eagley Reserves

Despite scoring a fifth of their season goal total on Saturday, Eagley Reserves were unable to recover from an abysmal opening period which saw them concede five goals within 25 minutes to Tempest United Reserves.

Mark Drew (2), Nick Skelly, Nathan Monson and Adam Shorrock all netted before Eagley had settled in the game and, by the time Jayden Baker had got one back, the game was well gone.

Baker added a second later in the game, with Kurtis Ralph adding a goal before an OG gave Eagley their four.

Nathan Monson and Adam Odonnall had since netted for Tempest to put the final score at 7-4.

Another high-scorer in Division 1 Reserve saw Thornton Cleveleys Reserves beat Poulton Reserves 5-2. Goals from Matthew Seal and Matthew Sillett could not match up to Billy Cartmell’s hat-trick, with Lewis Bowes adding two for the home side to make the scoreline more impressive.

Nick Buckley, Ashley Ball, Zac Wilkes and Lewis Sullivan scored to help Euxton Villa Reserves to a 4-1 win over Burscough Richmond Reserves. Tom Hilditch scored for Burscough.

Jordan Wignall scored a hat-trick to ensure that Lostock St Gerards Reserves put four past Turton Reserves. Andrew Shaw had opened the scoring for Lostock, with Lewis Nolan and James Buckley getting Turton’s two goals.

CMB Reserves beat Croston Sports Reserves 2-1 thanks to a quick pair of goals from Jack Locke and Michael Ford. Mark Forshaw’s goal just after half-time wasn’t enough to salvage a point for Croston.

Hurst Green Reserves edged past Fulwood Amateurs Reserves through an early Jon Stead goal.

Blackpool Wren Rovers beat Horwich St Marys Victoria 3-1 to move up to eighth in the league.

Division 2 Reserve: Coppull concede late to drop points

A late Ryan Yates equaliser prevented Coppull United Reserves from pulling further away from the chasing pack in their 2-2 draw with Wyre Villa Reserves. Wyre had gone ahead through Rob Norton before Daniel Fishwick and Scott Hendy put Coppull in the driving seat.

Coppull had 35 minutes in which to hold their lead but could only manage 34 and so the gap to second-placed Wyre remains one point.

Haslingden St Mary's Reserves beat Storeys Reserves 5-1. Matt Martindale put the home team ahead within 10 minutes before Storeys pegged them back through Luke Carpenter.

The rout then started, with Lewis Reeder, Alfie Edmundson, Joe McQuade and Jack Mounsey putting the game well beyond the reach of their opponents.

Two penalties from Henry Harrison combined with Kristian Bibby’s finish gave Chipping Reserves a 3-2 win over Carnforth Rangers Reserves. Anthony Crabtree and Cole Holt both converted in attempts to bring their team back into it, but their efforts were in vain.

Finally, Fulwood Amateurs A beat Thornton Cleveleys A 8-5, with Fulwood nearly doubling their opponents’ points total for the season and exactly doubling their goals scored in a game both defences may want to forget in a hurry.
