Six march into Shield quarter-finals

Six of the final eight teams in the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield will come from the West Lancashire League after a successful third round Saturday.

Holders Fulwood Amateurs progressed after beating Croston Sports 4-0.

Ryan Dodd broke the Division One side's just before half-time and second half goals from Layton Kirnon, Lucas Gornall and Zaid Bangi saw them through.

Last year's beaten finalists Slyne also enjoyed a 4-0 win, seeing off league rivals Turton in similar fashion.

Joe Wareing broke the deadlock on 43 minutes and further goals by Reece Pearce, Robbie Mooring and Jim Craig sealed the win.

Hesketh Bank had an eye-catching win at Thornton Cleveleys, by the same scoreline.

All the goals came in the second half through a Luke Smith double and James Hanson and Kevin Edgar.

Blackpool Wren Rovers came from a goal behind to see off Bolton Lads and Girls Club 3-1.

Carl Eastwood restored parity for Craig Doble's (pictured) side and Rob Hanslip and Carnan Dawson goals completed the turnaround.

Both Burscough Richmond and Hurst Green left it late to join them in the last eight.

Burscough's Billy Whittle settled their tie with Winstanley Warriors with the only goal coming five minutes from time.

Hurst Green did it the hard way at Whalley Range, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 courtesy of Joe Savin and Jordan Monk.

All six will go into the next round draw, which will also include Walshaw Sports and the winners of Pennington v Bolton County.

In the Westmorland Senior Cup, Milnthorpe Corinthians made light work of Ullswater in a 6-0 thumping.

Taylor Fagan grabbed a pair and strikes by Jordan Lynch, Harry Pilkington, George Loran and Tom Jackson saw them safely into the hat for the next round.
