Slyne gather pace on night of thrillers

On the penultimate midweek fixture list of August, Turton and Hurst Green also snatched late winners in 4-3 thrillers, with pictures of Blackpool Wren Rovers v Wyre Villa from DERICK THOMAS.

Slyne-with-Hest moved into third place with an impressive defeat of Fulwood Amateurs for Gavin Clark’s men.

Jim Craig and Danny Dixon did the damage in the first half in a 2-0 win to lift them above their visitors with a third win in six games.

CMB are also ticking nicely thanks to a resounding 5-1 win over Coppull United, four goals coming in a first-half blitz.

Oliver Turner, Obi Ebizie, Callum Cornes and Alex Leigh all but secured the three points by the break. Jordan Bennett pulled one back only for Dylan Winstanley to become CMB’s fifth separate scorer on the night.

Blackpool Wren Rovers earned their first home win of the season against strugglers Wyre Villa, Jacob Aspinall and Carl Eastwood putting Craig Doble’s side in the ascendancy by half time.

Aspinall added a third on 58 minutes to break Wyre’s resistance.
Late winners gave Hurst Green and Turton all three points in two separate 4-3 thrillers.

At the San Smithy, Jack Burgess and Danny Mort put Steve Cunningham’s side two to the good against Thornton Cleveleys but the champions roared back through Billy Dollin.

Mort extended Green’s lead on the hour but Dollin’s second and a Josh O’Neill strike tied the scores at 3-3. Joe Savin was the hero with the winner with seven minutes left on the clock.

Turton did the job a bit earlier in the derby at Tempest United, but had to do it the hard way, coming from 2-0 down in a blistering second half display.

Jordan Pendlebury struck twice in three minutes to make it 2-0 to the home side at the interval. But within seven minutes of the restart Turton were level – Scott Fitzsimmons and Adrian Bellamy restoring parity.

Aaron Thorpe and Josh Nuttall traded goals with the decisive strike by Jack Coop from the spot on 75 minutes earning previously goal-shy Turton the bragging rights.

Nick Hepple cashed in again as Poulton saw off Lytham Town, despite going a goal down on eight minutes to Rory Kelly.

Hepple struck on 19, 36, 42 and 65 minutes to earn the league leaders a 4-1 win.

A late own goal helped Vickerstown gain their first win of the season at newcomers Milnthorpe who led into the last 15 minutes through Lewis Airey.

But Kyle Delves and the own goal on 86 minutes sealed the turn around.

Div One – Six hitters keep up the pace

Hesketh Bank enjoyed a 6-0 win over Croston Sports to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The visitors more than held their own for 18 minutes until Matthew Lowe’s looping header set the ball rolling.

An unfortunate own goal doubled the advantage before a brace from Richard Burns – first a bullet header and the second a composed finish from Kevin Edgar’s clever through ball – made it 4-0 at the break.

Josh Brierley’s near-post header extended the lead to five on 59 minutes and Tom Smyth completed the scoring with a deft 25-yard chip on full time.

Rossendale remain in second with an identical scoreline – Scott Wylie, Luke Simpson and Tom Hulme with two apiece in the 6-0 win at Horwich St Mary’s Victoria.

Lostock St Gerards also notched a clean sheet in the 4-0 defeat of Southport Hesketh.

Lewis Wainwright scored early with Andrew Leggett doubling the lead shortly after half-time.

A Ryan Moore penalty and James Morley’s 89th minute effort sealed the win.

They share third place with Ulverston Rangers, goals in either half from Sean Mooney and Sam Pinnegor seeing off Carnforth Rangers.

Millom are in fifth after prevailing by the odd goal in three against Hawcoat Park.

Theo Wilson gave the home side the advantage on 35 minutes with Ben McDonald adding a second on 75 minutes. Corey Fittes halved the deficit to set up a nervy finish.

Four goals in 20 second half minutes by Askam helped them to a 5-1 win at Crooklands Casuals.

Callum Rayner’s opener was cancelled out by Nathan Shaw for Crooklands. But Ben Phizacklea, Sam Purslow and a Lee Irving double saw Askam romp home with three points in the bag.

Div 2 – Super Freck scale the summit

Freckleton are the new leaders of Division Two after they swatted aside basement boys Galgate.

Joe Bentley opened the scoring on 10 minutes with Kiefer Cunningham making it two on 25 minutes. Further strikes from Samson Ogundaisi and Rob Ford helped them to a 4-0 win.

They leapfrog Walney Island who fell to a 3-2 home defeat to near neighbours Holker Old Boys Reserves, despite leading twice.

Zach Walker put Walney ahead and after Farrell Foster equalised, Kieran Solloway restored the lead.

The wonderfully-named Hacken McCracken made a name for himself with a 45th minute equaliser and Foster completed the turnaround in the second period.

Jack Fletcher’s double helped Chipping move into fourth in a 2-0 win over Burnley United while Astley and Buckshaw and Euxton Reserves had to settle for a point each in a 2-2 draw, Kurt Robinson with both goals for the home side.

Garstang Reserves’ impressive away form continued as they headed home from Yorkshire with a 3-1 win at Pause United.

Taylor Fagan and Tom Graham’s penalty gave them a 2-0 lead which Tobi Mustapha halved on the hour. Harris Saunders made it 3-1 to the visitors on 76 minutes to make it four wins from four on their travels.

Charnock Richard Reserves had a comfortable 4-1 win over AFC Blackpool Reserves with Oliver Oxley helping himself to two goals.

Scott Hammill and Luke Power were also on the scoresheet for Charnock while Josh Sanderson got AFC Blackpool’s consolation.

Dalton United got their first win of the season and in some style, hitting Cartmel for six.

Jordan Chubb was the key to their success, bagging four in the rout with all six goals coming in a second-half blitz. Robbie McMurdo and an own goal completed Cartmel’s misery.

Kendal United had a fine comeback win in a goalfest at Storeys.
Bailey Kenny put the away side ahead but Matthew Poole and a Jamie Hastings penalty turned it round.

An own goal made it 2-2 but Storeys went in at half-time 3-2 up through Daniel Palin.

Kenny again and then an 88th minute winner from Mark Barnes-Davis sent the points back up the M6.
