Social media and personal communications policy introduced

By Andy Sykes

The West Lancashire Football League has expanded quickly in the world of social media - and that has led to a huge rise in virtual contact with clubs, players and spectators in recent seasons.

While that is encouraged, a small minority of individuals have abused this continued development and posted derogatory, legally-defamatory and abusive comments.

These ranged from and were not limited to abuse of club officials and club assistant referees, match officials and opposition players/managers and spectators.

The league has now implemented a social media and communications policy ahead of the 2024/25 season.
