Storm Darragh warning for travelling clubs

By Andy Sykes

Clubs who have to travel to complete West Lancashire League matches tomorrow are being offered the opportunity to postpone with Storm Darragh set to bring 70mph winds to the region.

Chairman Andy Hosker said: "Following several phone discussions & emails questioning the WLL matches planned for Saturday 7th Dec matches & the subsequent storm & weather warning that is about to hit the area in the next 24 hours. We have to recognise that several teams are being asked to travel considerable distances for games, however, some games are fairly local for some teams.

"Therefore, whilst we are not going to order a blanket postponement of all matches, upon the grounds of travel safety & in view of the weather warnings, any team not wishing to travel can postpone their game should they so wish.

"No Cup matches planned for this weekend will be deemed as a 2nd postponement & they will not be subjected to a fixture reversal should tomorrow’s game be postponed. To be honest, I don’t really expect any / many games to survive due to waterlogged pitches anyway.

"A referee’s report is not necessary in these circumstances to postpone a game, however, please ensure your opponents, match officials, & the usual League officials (Dave Sponder, Dave Hesketh, John Brown & myself) are informed at your earliest convenience to prevent un-necessary travelling."
