Table toppers pop champagne corks to mark promotions

Eagley and Astley & Buckshaw are celebrating promotions after another busy week of midweek fixtures, with pictures from Lostock St Gerards Res v Blackpool Wrens Res by PAUL O'BRIEN and Blackpool Wrens v Burscough Richmond by IAN MOORE.

In the Premier Division, Lostock St Gerards completed a remarkable come back to stun hosts Poulton with five goals in the last 20 minutes.

Max Landless and Nathan Townsend’s goals had Poulton in control at 2-0 but Andrew Leggett pulled one back on 72 minutes.

Further efforts from Lewis Pilgrim, Reece Thompson, Josh Sarda and Gary Basterfield sealed an unlikely 5-2 win for Dixie Dawson’s men.

Lostock are now above Blackpool Wren Rovers who drew 1-1 with Burscough Richmond.

Jordan Lorde put the visitors ahead with Matthew Sillett, a recent signing from AFC Blackpool, scoring his second in two games for Wrens.

The Brickell family were at it again in Coppull’s 4-1 win at Slyne, Greg with a brace and Taylor with his own effort. Ben Pendlebury grabbed Coppull’s other goal with Liam Rodgers with a consolation for Slyne.

That result means Turton will play in Division One next season.

Hurst Green goalkeeper Sam Hardy scored a goal from his own penalty area in his side’s 4-2 win at Tempest United.

His effort plus strikes by Danny Mort, Jordan Monk and Cuan Bradley sealed the win, Jordan Pendlebury and Ben Patel on target for Tempest.

Eagley were promoted from Division One thanks to a point in the battle of the top two at Haslingden St Mary’s.

Sam Rigby put them ahead with Michael Woodvine equalising for Haslingden in injury time, a point that could be vital for their own promotion hopes.

Ulverston Rangers lost the chance to go back into the top two with a 4-2 home defeat to Millom.

Jamie Pattinson and Oliver Pachul put Millom ahead at the break and Theo Wilson’s double made it 4-0.

Sean Mooney and Jack Milburn scored for the home side late on.
Hesketh Bank enjoyed a good 3-2 win at Chipping, Matthew Low cancelling out Joe Melling’s early penalty.

Gary Knight had put Chipping back ahead put Owen Cuerden hit two to earn the three points.

Holker Old Boys Res leapt up to eighth with a 3-0 win over Carnforth Rangers thanks to a Tyler Spence double and a Charlie McGladdery effort.

Kendal County and Crooklands Casuals completed their seasons with a 0-0 draw.

Division Two leaders Astley and Buckshaw were also celebrating promotion on Tuesday night – without even playing.

Pause United’s 3-2 home defeat to Storeys meant Astley are guaranteed a top two finish and a place in Division One next term.

David Whitelaw and Joe Wareing stunned Pause with early goals but the promotion chasers hit back in the second half through Ryan Yates and Tom Knight.

Wareing’s second sealed the three points for Storeys – and Astley’s promotion.

Freckleton are back in pole position to join them with a narrow win at Galgate, Graham Lyons the only scorer in a 1-0 victory.

Pause travel to Freckleton on Thursday in a game that could go a long way to deciding the destination of the second promotion spot

In Division One Reserve, Blackpool Wren Rovers put in a storming second-half display to earn their 13th league win of the season at Lostock St Gerards Reserves.

The home side dominated the first 25 minutes, going 2-0 up thanks to a Adam Whittaker penalty and Jonny Wilding's clever finish off the post.

A fine flowing move almost made it 3-0 but Wrens keeper Oli Shepard came to the rescue.

And it proved vital as Wrens came out in the second half a different team, buoyed by the introduction of tricky winger Liam Wenman.

They pulled one back on 53 minutes when Tommy Hanslip powered home a header from a sumptuous cross from the right.

Wenman stabbed home the equaliser shortly after and Ryan Nickless completed the turn-around via an 89-minute penalty after another trip in the box.

Rossendale Res got their first away win of the season with a 3-1 win at Eagley Res.

Eagley went ahead just before the break thanks to Zach Karanga-Brown only for Teal Amos to level almost immediately.

Amos' second and a late goal from Rico Gavan completed the win.

Freckleton Res are still in with a shout of promotion from Division Two Reserve thanks to Thiery Bennett's brace against Fulwood Amateurs A, who had taken the lead through Dylan Jackson Cooney.

In the Lancashire FA Shield semi-final, reinstated Wyre Villa lost 3-2 to Chadderton Cott.

The Manchester League side will now face Fulwood Amateurs in the final at Lancashire FA on Tuesday May 7th (7.30pm).
