Tempest take first silverware of season

John Crossland's reign as Tempest United got off to the perfect start as they picked up the Wilf Carr Trophy against Thornton Cleveleys.

The cup - competed for by the 2021/22 league champions and Richardson Cup winners - saw Connor Griffiths fire the Bolton side ahead on eight minutes.

Danny Storey restored parity for John Beavers' men on 35 minutes.

But Oliver Melling popped up with 10 minutes left to seal a 2-1 win.
