Vickerstown bid farewell to West Lancashire League

Vickerstown have resigned from the West Lancashire League.

The Cumbrian side were relegated from the Premier Division this season after a year of struggles on and off the pitch.

A club spokesman said: "It is with great sadness and regret that I am informing you of Vickerstown FCs resignation from the West Lancashire Football League with immediate effect.

"The decision has come about from a number of factors but mainly due to long term injuries to key players that would run far into next seasons competition.

"Out of respect for the club and the league we took this difficult decision.

"Vickerstown's Committee would like to thank the league and all its members past and present for all their support over the years.

"It's been a pleasure to have our club be involved in such a prestigious and well respected league which is run to a very high standard."

A decision on the make-up of Division One next season will be announced at the AGM on Thursday June 8.

Everyone at the West Lancashire League wishes Vickerstown well for the future and thank them for loyal service to our league over many years.
