Whitehaven off bottom with last-gasp win

Whitehaven stunned Fulwood Amateurs for the second time running with a dramatic injury time winner writes ROSS CHAPMAN with pictures from Holker Old Boys Res v Freckleton by PAUL HUNT.

In the Premier Division, Whitehaven left it late to beat second-place Fulwood Amateurs 2-1 - their second consecutive win over the high-flyers after beating them 2-0 last season on the 3G at UCLan Sports Arena.

Josh Hilton gave them the lead before a Will Sim equaliser, but Robbie Swinburn reclaimed the lead for Whitehaven in the 94th minute for their second win of the season.

CMB were comfortable 8-2 winners over Hurst Green.

CMB did actually fall behind early in the game through James Whitworth but they responded strongly with goals from Daniel Locke, Carl Grimshaw and Dylan Winstanley taking them into the break 3-1 up.

In the second half, Winstanley completed a hat trick while Carl Grimshaw got his second and Benji Lilly also bagged a brace, Jay Craven netted Hurst Green’s second.

League leaders Tempest United enjoyed a 5-0 win over Blackpool Wren Rovers, largely thanks to an impressive first half display.

Sam Parkinson scored twice and Tom Booth and Jordan Pendlebury were also on the scoresheet before the break, after which Elliott Hailwood made it five.

Burscough Richmond came from a goal down to beat Milnthorpe Corinthians 3-1 away from home.

Tyron Dodgson opened the scoring for the hosts but Lewis Corke, Adam Sutton and Matty Hawkins gave Burscough all three points.

Eagley and Coppull United drew 2-2 with all four goals scored inside a frantic six minute period in the second half.

The hosts took the lead in the 69th minute through Kieran Lomax before Cameron Murphy’s equaliser three minutes later.

Alfie Cowen restored Eagley’s lead before Murphy made it all square once again.

Poulton rescued a point late on at home against Rossendale.

Jordan Hilton got the opener for Rossendale 17 minutes in which Poulton responded to through Toby Scammell ten minutes later.

Scorr Wylie gave the visitors the lead again early in the second half but Cory Harrison made sure Poulton came away with a draw in the 95th minute when he slammed home emphatically left-footed to spark jubilant scenes on the home bench.

Cleator Moor Celtic and Lostock St Gerards also drew 2-2, with Cleator’s goals coming from Leon Dymtroski and Harley Cueto while Lostock St Gerard’s scorers were Abdullah Zaffer and Mason McKay.

In Division One, Carnforth Rangers earned a 6-2 win over Kendal County.

Cole Holt scored a hat trick, while Carnforth’s other scorers were Ricky Mwale, George Drake and Jack Livesey.

Kendal County’s goals were scored by Dan Ferguson and Jacob Carway.

Southport Hesketh won an eight-goal thriller to claim their first victory of the season, beating Crooklands Casuals 5-3 away from home.

The Samateh brothers gave them a three goal lead, Muhammad scoring twice and Ebrima getting the other.

Joe Blackshaw pulled one back for the hosts but David Gates scored twice to further Southport Hesketh’s advantage.

Crooklands Casuals scored two late consolations thanks to Nathan Shaw and Lee Irving.

Holker Old Boys Reserves also put five past their opponents, beating Freckleton 5-2.

Dylan Ellis and Robbie Wallace gave them a two goal cushion before Zach Smith got one back for Freckleton.

Jake Lamb, Joe McGladdery and Freddie Lawton made it 5-1 before Esan Gouldbourne shortened the lead.

Second place Hesketh Bank were 4-1 winners at Turton, with goals courtesy of Owen Cuerden, Richard Burns, Kevin Edgar and Peter Jones, with Turton’s sole reply being an own goal.

Astley & Buckshaw edged out Ulverston Rangers in a 1-0 win to stay top of the division, Ellis Campbell getting the only goal of the game.

Jamie Pattinson scored twice, either side of a Reece Orton goal, as Millom beat Chipping 3-0.

Slyne with Hest got a valuable three points - their first of the season - with a 2-1 win at Croston Sports.

Alex Petrou and Liam Rodgers netted for Slyne before Nick Buckley’s penalty for the hosts.

Askam United and Lytham Town drew 1-1, Ben Phizacklea scored for Askam before Lytham equalised through an own goal.

In Division Two, Mill Hill were once again at the centre of a goal fest, beating Charnock Richard Reserves 7-4 away from home in a rollercoaster of a game.

It looked like Charnock would be taking a 2-0 lead into half time thanks to Dan Metge and Alfie Hodgkinson but Brandon Clifton and Curtis Poole both scored on the stroke of half time, before Clifton turned the game around completely four minutes after the restart.

Cole Heaton then equalised but Clifton completed his hat trick not long after and David Stafford put some daylight between the two sides.

Luca Navarro made it 4-5 to give the hosts a chance, but Jake Edwards and Curtis Poole made sure of the win late on.

Stoneclough were on the right side of a nine-goal thriller against Galgate with a 5-4 win.

Bailey Bates put Galgate ahead before Stoneclough went 3-1 up thanks to Akbar Khosab, Jack Littlewooe and Kevin Myftaraja.

Jonathan Thom halved the deficit but, after half time, Alex Horden restored the two goal lead.

However, Galgate got right back in the game as Kieran Carpenter and Jason Ugwu made it all square, but Dion Davies’ goal in the 88th minute gave Stoneclough the three points.

Kendal United recovered from going a goal down early on to beat Storeys of Lancaster 6-1.

Joe Waring got Storeys’ early strike but goals from Daniel Craig (2), Matthew Kennedy, Jamie Looker, Brody Moffatt and Joe Hodgson made it a comfortable day in the office for Kendal United.

Thomas Henderson was the star for Euxton Villa Reserves this weekend, he scored a hat trick as he beat Caton United Reserves 3-0.

Dalton United also got a 3-0 win, away to Garstang Reserves, goals coming from Robbie McMurdo, Scott McDonald and Gareth Jones.

Thornton Cleveleys Reserves got three points on the road at Walney Island with a 3-1 win.

Joe Pearson put the home side in front but Harry Fryer’s double and Jay Wilson’s finish gave the visitors the victory.

Bamber Bridge Reserves and Barnoldswick Town Reserves, now both settled into the West Lancashire League in their first seasons in the setup, played out a 3-3 draw.

Ivan Otomo twice put Barnoldswick Reserves ahead but on both occasions was pegged back by Lewis Pilgrim.

Carson Greaves gave Bamber Bridge Reserves a 3-2 lead before David Thornton rescued a point for ‘Barlick’ in the last minute of normal time.

Top of the table Pause United drew 1-1 with Hawcoat Park, Joel Davidson put Pause ahead before a late Joe Mitchell equaliser.

Reserve Division One leaders Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves continued their fine form with a 5-1 win against Tempest United Reserves.

Frankie Simmons, Tom Hanslip, Charlie King (2) and Ellis Wilson all scored, while Tempest’s scorer was Leiden McLean.

Haslingden St Marys Reserves got a first win of the season against Lostock St Gerards Reserves.

Charlie Ridge and Zach Brierley gave Haslingden an early two goal lead before Ashton Cookson halved the deficit with two minutes of the first half left.

Tom Brierley restored the two goal cushion in the second period to seal their first win of the campaign.

Chipping Reserves were 3-1 winners against Turton Reserves, with goals from Zach Wilson, Greg Timbrell and Jon Bedford - Turton’s reply came through an own goal.

Coppull United Reserves got a 3-1 victory versus Eagley Reserves.

Ben Bicknell scored twice and Muhammad Rahman made it three midway through the second half before Rhys Hardie scored a late Eagley reply.

CMB Reserves beat Rossendale Reserves 2-0 away from home thanks to Lewis Cullen and Alex Lee.

And Poulton Reserves got a 1-0 win at Fulwood Amateurs Reserves courtesy of an own goal.

In Reserve Division Two, Pause United completed an extraordinary comeback as they came from 3-0 down to beat Caton United Reserves 4-3.

Declan Lightfoot, Sam Hodgson and Jamie Townley gave Caton a 3-0 lead at half time but it was all Pause after the break.

Ethan Brown, Jamie Wilkes and Ollie Wilson scored to make it three-all before Adam Walmsley’s penalty completed an outstanding turnaround.

Storeys Reserves were 3-1 winners against Fulwood Amateurs A despite falling a goal behind early doors.

Reserve Division Two top scorer Wesley Onoma gave his side the lead before Jake Baron equalised.

Storeys then took charge in the second half and, thanks to goals from Dylan Jackson-Cooney and Luke Capstick, got the three points.

Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves were also 3-1 winners, away to Lytham Town Reserves.

Cameron Hollywood put them ahead before Tom Ladds doubled the lead.

Despite James Millet-Johnson’s goal for Lytham, the two goal advantage was restored by Tom Jackson late on.

Jonathan Croft and Joe Stead got the goals as Hesketh Bank Reserves beat Thornton Cleveleys A 2-0.

Finally, Elliott Beaver was the only scorer as Stoneclough Reserves got a 1-0 win at Hurst Green Reserves.
